Dear rakhid In general, osteotomies do increase recovery time as they are more traumatic and lead to secondary swelling. The typical recovery time in a limited rhinoplasty without osteotomies is 7-10 days while with osteotomies there is more swelling and bruising and usually 2 weeks of recovery time. In the big picture, do the right procedure for your nose and don't make surgical decisions based on recovery time. You want to do your surgery once and do it right.
Osteotomies are necessary in our practice about 99% of the time when we perform a rhinoplasty procedure. Osteotomies do create bruising that lasts approximately 10 days after the surgery, but most of the swelling in the nose occurs in the tip, due to some form of tip rhinoplasty. The tip stays swollen the longest period of time, upwards of a year. For more information about osteotomies and why there are used, please see the video below
By recovery, that depends on your endpoint: look not bruised or swollen, be able to swim and play basket ball. Certainly a year for the latter and 4-6 months for the former, for most people.
I would say this is a tall order for the surgeon as the bump will appear larger when the nose is reduced. I would not recommend leaving a bump. It would look like a mistake.
