I have a few different types of acne scars on my cheeks. I was just wondering if I should get bellafillnor subcision done. I tried 4 treatments of eMatrix in conjunction with 4 treatments chemical peels but the scars are still visible. I live in Orange Country, CA if anyone have any suggestion.
Answer: Acne Scarring -- Requires a Combination of Fractional Laser Resurfacing, Fillers Like Bellafill, Subcision and Eclipse Micropen In my practice I do a combination of lasers/RF, subcision, needling and fillers all on the same day (check out my youtube!). I think you get the best results with combination therapy. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Bellafill Combined with Subcision for Acne Scarring Improving indented acne scarring can take some time and patience, but with all the available new technologies, the potential for correction is more promising than ever. eMatrix is a great place to start to treat acne scars, while Bellafill filler can be a great follow-up for more severe, stubborn scars that are not resolved through resurfacing alone. In regards to your question, Bellafill can actually be injected in conjunction with the act of subcision. Subcision involves using a needle to break up scar tissue underneath acne scars. This movement releases the indented tissue, and gradually helps to improve scars depth. In my office, part of the technique of injecting Bellafill involves first performing subcision at each injection site, then placing the product beneath the scar. This technique provides an instant improvement, and ensures patients get the most out of their treatment. Bellafill, unlike other filler, does require a skin test a few weeks prior, so take that into account when planning for treatment. Also keep in mind that multiple sessions may be necessary depending on the severity of your scarring. Proper injection technique with Bellafill is particularly important, as its components are partially permanent, so be sure to consult with an experienced board certified Dermatologist. Best of luck!

Answer: I believe that Bellafill coordinated with subcision is the best treatment for acne scars? Bellafill® has finally been approved by the FDA for treatment of acne scars. Many of us have used some form of this permanent filler for years and in my case since the early 90's. Previous to that, collagen such as Zyderm I or II was my filler choice, but subcision was also necessary, but the memory of the tethering scars pulled down again, but not as much as pre-treatment. Many serial treatments were needed. However, with continued diligence I was able to get an adherent aggressive skin cancer treatment, back to pre-excision levels without surgery, lasers (which really don't address or correct the underlying problems of lack of volume and skin quality). Your eMatrix and chemical peels also don't address the problem. Bellafill® is relatively expensive, but in my experience well worth the cost, since the results are mostly permanent.Dr. SeareClinique SculptureCarlsbad, Ca

Answer: Bellafill for Acne Scars and Subcision Bellafill is an excellent choice for your acne scars. Very often, when injecting Bellafill, a little subsicion is done to release any bound down scar or tethered scar that is preventing the Bellafill from leveling the scar with the surrounding skin. I have had patients who have tried everything to get rid of their scars and they are over joyed when they see their results from Bellafill. I have added a link to more information about Bellafill and a video on filler safety issues. Make sure you find someone who has experience with injecting Bellafill under the eyes and uses a micro cannula. I hope that helps. Best regards.
