Would the front of my face look really different after a silicone chin implant?

No plastic surgery, if it is well performed, will change your look drastically or make you unrecognizable. A chin implant is such a subtle improvement that most people won't even think you had “work” done; they'll just notice that you look better, somehow. The implant will most significantly change your profile by lending it strength and balance. Your front view shouldn't change much. As for the percentage of change, that depends on what you need and what you want. It's also impossible to say, without an in-person consultation, if an implant would make you look more mature. In general, a chin implant is intended to change your chin in the following manner:1) Anterior/Posterior Projection (maximally- this is where you will see the biggest change and it is best appreciated on side profile photos2) Width (minimally- there is generally just a slight widening on straight on view, main intended to prevent your chin from looking too pointy)3) Height (not at all- there should be no appreciable change in the height of the chin and any change is a result of misplacement)

A chin implant is not very noticeable from the frontal facial view.  It helps more with your profile.  If one has  a weak chin, the face is not balanced.  The nose may appear larger and the mid face has more of a presence.  When the chin implant is placed, the face is more symmetrically balanced and eye appealing.  It can also sometimes help with lessening the look of the marionette lines as it makes the area wider.  Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon.  I hope this has helped you.  Good luck on your search.

No,  the frontal view only changes a little bit depending upon which size of implant is placed. Chin implants augment the chin in all three dimensions which include mostly forward projection, some lateral with, and small amount of vertical height.  Hi, I have performed many Chin Augmentations using chin implants for over 30 years.  Photos of your face from the front and side would help in the evaluation.  When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy and the lower face look short that de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a double chin.  Chin augmentation using a chin implant will add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face. 





 I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty.  I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone.  The type (style = shape) of the chin implant will dictate how much the front part of the chin will change.
