Glue Vs External stitching for fair/sensitive-skinned lip lift patient?

Question

I am going to be traveling to receive a conservative lip-lift soon and am incredibly concerned about the scar leaving train-tracks as a previous scar revision on my face did leave that result from stitches. If I do have to get stitches and glue is not an option, would keeping the wound very moist with ointment constantly prevent the track scarring (I wasn't super great about moistening them for my prior scar revision, although I did apply it a few times a day)

Great question.  Wound care is of utmost importance when it comes to avoiding those dreaded train tracks.  Keeping the incision clean and free from crusting, along with adequate moisturization with ointment will ensure that you heal appropriately.  Also, the sutures should be removed as soon as your surgeon deems it safe.  Done appropriately, there is little to no scarring to worry about.  Best of luck!

The best route relating to this question is to choose the surgeon that you want, whatever works best in his or her hands is going to be the right answer to this. 
To ensure you are receiving the highest level of care, seek out a modernly trained, new-school dermatologic surgeon, oculoplastic surgeon, facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who is board certified and fellowship trained in one of these "core four" cosmetic specialties. Membership in organizations like the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery help to identify a highly trained surgeon.

It is important to review the surgeon's work history by understanding their training, experience, years of performing lip lifts, number of lip lifts performed per year, patient testimonials and patient before and after photos. In my opinion such "glue" closures end very bad with broad scars, that is why plastic surgeons don't use them massively, forget that idea. In my experience indirect lip lift (aka bullhorn) scars are of excellent quality, but anyhow they'll be always visible, there are no invisible scars.

Fine sutures are preferred over glue which will leave a wider scar. The fine sutures that I use are 6-0 plain resorbable sutures that do not need to be removed. They are 1/2 the width of a human hair.
