Lip filler damage. Was my vermillion border damaged and will it go away or do I need a procedure? (photos)

I got lip fillers done 2/3 years ago and believe there is damage and would like advice if plastic surgeons have encountered this before - on and off redness above upper left lip - numbness and tingling comes and goes - lip fillers have been dissolved 2 times without lip filler in place and redness / numbness persists - got this done by a GP on training day- I think she damaged my vermillion border possibly ?? Will this go away? Thank you

With the limited views from your pictures and not having an in person exam it is difficult to give an actual assessment.  I would recommend you see a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area for full evaluation and treatment.

There are occasional patients who present with long lasting lumps, irregularities, redness and tingling months/years after fillers applications. This is most likely scar formation as a reaction to filler of some component of filler carrier which creates inflammation, redness and possibly sensation irregularities. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is recommended. Good luck.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. After two years, there are no fillers in your lips. It is best that you visit a board-certified plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question and I am sorry to hear of your difficulties after lip augmentation.  Your pictures offer limited view of your upper lip so I would recommend seeing a series of ASPS board certified plastic surgeons in consultation for an in-person evaluation of your tissues.  Hopefully either reassurance or some treatment can be discussed to restore your previous appearance.
