Is it safe to get lip fillers prior to pregnancy?

Question

I've had lip fillers 1.5 year ago, it was either Restylane or Juvederm, to be honest I can't recall. The results are now completely faded, and I'm interested in getting fillers again. The thing is that my husband and I are trying for a baby. I know fillers are forbidden during pregnancy, how about right before pregnancy? Thank you.

You may absolutely have lip fillers prior to pregnancy. Because their safety is not known during pregnancy as studies do not include pregnant women, we avoid them during this time.

If you are not pregnant, then lip fillers should be fine. If you are considering lip augmentation, I suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon.

It is safe to get lip fillers prior to pregnancy.  You will want to be sure that you are not pregnant at the time of your filler treatment.  See an experienced injector near you.

Right before is fine just be very sure that it is in fact before and not during early pregnancy. There is not any data on receiving filler during pregnancy so with all things related to pregnancy if we do not have data on it we advise against it.

It should not be an issue since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in our skin. Millions of people have been treated for over a decade around the world, and of course many prior to becoming pregnant without issue. For the sake of safety though and lack of data, most dermatologists would hesitate to treat someone known to be pregnant.
