Answer: Lip Filler Question Hi, I’m Lauren, the aesthetic injector at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center. Changing out your braces elastics frequently won’t mess up your lip filler. If you just got your filler, that’s when you want to be a little more gentle, within the first 24-48 hours.

Answer: Lip Fillers and Braces: Can They Coexist? Thank you for your question — it’s a great one, especially for individuals undergoing orthodontic treatment while considering or maintaining lip fillers like Juvederm or Restylane. Yes, you can safely have lip fillers while wearing braces, including when you're required to frequently change your elastics. The movement involved in changing rubber bands or speaking/chewing typically does not interfere with dermal filler placement or longevity, particularly once the filler has settled — which generally occurs within a few days to a week. That said, if you’ve just received your lip filler: Try to avoid excessive lip pressure, massaging, or manipulation for the first 48 hours after treatment. Be gentle when changing elastics during the initial healing period, as freshly injected filler is still settling into place. Swelling or tenderness may also be more noticeable during this time, especially if you're stretching your lips frequently. Once the filler is integrated, routine movements like eating, talking, or handling elastics won’t negatively impact the results. As always, communicate with both your injector and orthodontist so everyone is aware of your treatment timeline. A skilled injector will also take into account the presence of braces during the filler consultation to ensure safe and aesthetic results.

Answer: Lip fillers and braces Yes you can still have lip filler while you have braces. When you select your appointment, try to give yourself the maximum number of hours before the elastics would need to be changed again. Use caution and try not to press firmly on the lips. Speak to your injector about your concerns.

Answer: Lip Filler If you just recently received lip filler treatment, I would suggest waiting about 2 weeks for it to heal to change anything. Onces that period goes by, you are able to do whatever it is that you need with your braces. There should be no issues or contraindications to receive the treatment.

Answer: Lip Filler and Braces Hello! Although may be uncomfortable the first day following the injections, getting filler to the lips is safe while having braces. I recommend changing your elastics just prior to the injection so you will not need another elastic change several hours afterwards or the rest of the day following injection. Stay gentle while changing your elastics for the following weeks after your injection and it should not disrupt the filler. A touch-up can always be performed if needed. Best of luck!
