After having breast augmentation I started getting a rash at about 3 weeks, all over my chest, I did research and thought maybe it was from the adhesive strips underneath. I saw an allergist who gave me a 6 day steroid pack and it cleared up but I still have a lot of red and warm to touch on the sides, no pain or swelling, still itchy at night mainly. My surgeon was not sure either what I was having a reaction too, waiting to get blood tests back from my allergist. Should I be worried??

Answer: Am I allergic to silicone? Thank you for sharing your excellent question and I am sorry to hear of your rash issues. I would advocate waiting until you have the full information from your allergy testing before assuming any silicone allergy. There are far more common reasons following surgery including adhesives, gauze, garments, etc that can cause a temporary issue. Hope this helps.
