Answer: Revision of Belly Button Scar 1 Yr After TT Every plastic surgeon will have a different skill set, but umbilicoplasty is fairly straightforward. Some products of healing are not predictable and not a reflection of poor surgical technique. In your case, I am not sure what exactly happened, and I would need more information or an exam to make a determination about what needs to be done.If the belly button has been revised once and is still not satisfactory at one year following the revision, there may not be a great deal anyone can do. There are a variety of therapeutic modalities that can be utilized, but none are entirely effective for hypertrophic scars. In the case of a patient who would definitely qualify for a belly button scar revision the essential technique would include a permanent purse string suture that would take the tension off of healing and therefore allows for minimal scar tissue development.
