In general, if the surgeon does work which is less than ideal, he or she should offer some discount or price concession to revise the problem.  So, your best bet may be going with the surgeon who performed your procedure.Best of luck!

Every plastic surgeon will have a different skill set, but umbilicoplasty is fairly straightforward.  Some products of healing are not predictable and not a reflection of poor surgical technique. In your case, I am not sure what exactly happened, and I would need more information or an exam to make a determination about what needs to be done.If the belly button has been revised once and is still not satisfactory at one year following the revision, there may not be a great deal anyone can do.  There are a variety of therapeutic modalities that can be utilized, but none are entirely effective for hypertrophic scars.  The nature of the contour of the tummy tuck scar can almost always be made better, but healing is not 100% predictable.  Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Tummy tuck operation involves translocation of the bellybutton. This results in a scar around the belly button that can be difficult to disguise. Sometimes overtime this car can spread and it can become very noticeable. This can be very frustrating side effect of another wise successful  operation.  Treating this is frequently undertaken after a period of conservative management that includes scar massage with silicone sheeting and special scar creams. Sometimes steroid injections may be helpful however this may also result in the areas of hypo pigmentation.  Once a decision is made to revise and umbilical or tummy tuck belly button scar. Consideration should be made to work skintone as well as previous scaring and how each individual patient develops scar tissue.  In the case of a patient who would definitely qualify for a belly button scar revision the essential technique would include a permanent purse string suture that would take the tension off of healing and therefore allows for minimal scar tissue development. Also scar massage and treatment with  specific scar cream in the post operative period Is essential.

It looks like you scarred thickly in that area. It may be worth revising the scar, but you will need to do intensive scar therapy after the revision is done to protect against thick scar occurring again. It's possible it might. Your surgeon may offer to do this for you with only cost of procedure room. If you are looking for another surgeon, you should meet with board certified plastic surgeons whom you can find at plasticsurgery.org. This procedure is done under local anesthesia and should not present a high expense.

Scar revision can be performed on the umbilicus and the lower abdominal incision after about a year. The fee will vary from surgeon to surgeon.

Yes you will benefit with scar revision,go back to your board certified PS who did the original surgery,he will be more compassionate and understanding and may even waive of the fees.
