I got a tummy tuck 5 months ago and I love it, but the only thing that bothers me is the size and shape of my bellybutton... from the day of the surgery it reminded me of a coin slot and it was very round. I’m a petit person already and feel it’s too big for my body. My ps keeps telling me it’s just swollen still but I haven’t seen a change. Please tell me to be patient that it will get smaller.

Answer: Will my belly button get smaller or do I have to redo it?
Diuretics (water pills) are not typically used for swelling caused by surgery. Swelling is common and expected after surgery. It resolves over time as healing continues. Compression garments are often helpful, as is closely following activity recommendations by your surgeon.
It is indeed true that certain techniques in abdominoplasty can improve pelvic position and help with back pain. It is still a cosmetic procedure in classification and insurance coverage could be construed as insurance fraud, so be careful.
ArizonaG. Sorry you are having these issues, but it is difficult to say judging from your photographs if this is residual swelling or a fluid collection. Ask your Plastic Surgeon to refer you for ultrasound study to properly evaluate the situation. Good luck.
