This depends on whether you are speaking of the donor or the recipient area and whether you are electing to have a transplant by FUE or FUT. With regards to the donor area for FUE procedure the hair will need to be buzzed very short. If you are having an FUT procedure the hair will need to be kept about and inch and a half long. The recipient area can generally be kept at any length.
There is no hair length requirement for having a hair transplant surgery. If you are having a FUE donor hair harvesting, your donor hair needs to be 2 to 3 mm in length.
For a strip graft, it doesn't matter. For FUE, you want at least 1mm of hair. If you currently shave, let it grow for a couple of weeks and go see a hair transplant surgeon in your area for recommendations. Good luck!
Usually between 2-3 mm in length. Some surgeons shave the area.Hope this helps,Dr. Gus Diaz
To do a strip harvest procedure the hair would require to be at least an inch in length. For FUE procedure the length of the hair does not matter, but oftentimes the surgeon will shave the donor area to facilitate extraction. I hope this information helps.
I assume you are asking to understand how long the hair in the back should be before an FUT procedure. In this case about an inch is long enough to cover the sutured area. If you are trying to camouflage FUE, where a greater area tends to be shaven, then you have two options which you can discuss with your surgeon. Option one is to shave a large box area in the back of the head only to the height that your hair can cover. Option two is to shave linear areas about 1/2 inch high and allow the hair to "shingle" over each area. This approach requires more preparation and can sometimes slow down the extraction process leading to less yield, but it will allow you to have FUE with shorter hair. You can also consider long hair FUE but this can be much slower than standard FUE meaning more cost for less hair in general.
There is no rule. At our clinic with work with any length. However it is easier for the surgeon to work in the recipient and donor areas if the hair is cut shorter in length.
There is no length required. I generally tell patients to keep it long to use for styling to cover the hair transplant for the first few days.
And thus, won't be covered by insurance. Any underlying depression must be treated by a psychologist or psychiatrist, not a plastic surgeon. While I do agree hair loss is traumatizing and can make one feel depressed, anxious, and unnatractive, insurance companies simply don't care....
It takes age (genetic triggers occur in family lines) so you need to find out when your father or grandfather started to grow their hair. It is unusual for a man of your age not to have facial hair but your family history might give you insight into this. Your hormones should have kicked...
Dear T25252525,Thank you for posting this question. The short answer is yes. About 50% of the follicles transplanted will shed their hairs due to the stress placed on them during the hair transplantation process. These follicles re-grow their hairs starting at roughly 3-4 months after...
