Can I still have breast augmentation if I have gallstones?

Gallstones are not a contraindication to breast augmentation.  If however your gallbladder is bothering you and you need this to be treated, it may be best to do it first and recover from it.  Your breast augmentation will look just as good if happens to be delayed a bit ;-)

Symptomatic gallstones would be a contraindication to proceeding with breast augmentation surgery. This problem should be fully evaluated prior to surgery. The presence of gallstones that are not otherwise causing a problem should not interfere with breast augmentation surgery.

if you end up having gallstones get them taken care of first.  always do the medically necessary procedures first.  youi can always have an augmentation

Gallstones alone are not a reason that you cannot have surgery.  However, if you have had 4 attacks since July, this may be a problem.  The clearance for your surgery should be given by your primary care physician or your internist, whoever can make a decision with your surgeon whether you are safe for this procedure or not.

You are fine to proceed with a Breast augmentation despite having gallstones. If you are having multiple bouts of abdominal pain because of these stones you should have your gall bladder removed before you develop true cholecystitis, not just biliary colic. It's not an emergency to have it out now but I wouldn't wait months. Good luck

Gallstones are not contraindicative to breast augmentation.  However, my advice would be to have the gallstones removed first.  Depending on the technique used to remove the stones, you may have tenderness in your abdomen when you try and sit up and down, etc.  You will need to use your arms to help you ambulate.  When you have a breast augmentation, you are not allowed to use your arms to push, pull or lift anything heavy for the first couple of weeks.  This means that you would not be able to get up and down easily if you end up having your gallstones removed fairly soon after your breast surgery.I hope this helps.

If you've had 4 bouts of upper quadrant pain related to these gallstones in the last 3 months, you should consider having these taken care of first.  Any possible source of infection adds another element of risk to what should be  a safe, elective procedure.  See a general surgeon for the gallbladder and postpone your breast augmentation.Best wishes,--Erik Hoy, M.D.

There is not enough info here to offer specific advice. If you have had no symptoms, it would probably be ok to have the breast aug as scheduled. But it sounds like these tests were probably done in response to some symptoms you have had, and in that setting, there are real risks of post op cholecystitis (bacterial inflammation) which could cause an implant infection, no small problem!Better to have the gall bladder problem addressed first. Once healed, you could proceed with your breast surgery.All the best. 

You might want to ask your medical doctor if you should proceed with gall bladder surgery or go ahead with the augmentation. You don't want to have to have an emergency gall bladder surgery right after breast augmentation.
