Can the incision for a tummy tuck be lower than the pubic hair line? I am quite hairy and worried that the hair line will be pulled up too high if not. I have read a lot of reviews on here where ladies have complained of this. ( I don't mind if I have a small vertical scar from belly button, I would prefer that to hair up my stomach.) Thank you in advance Kim
Answer: Low tummy tuck scar? Yes, definitely. In fact it usually is in most people. The scar is often placed around 7cm above the top of the labia but can be moved higher or lower depending on a patients preference. The mons pubis (the hair bearing skin of the pubic region) is usually lifted with a tummy tuck and this is taken into account when planning placement of the lower abdominal incision. Most patients mons pubis will either require lifting or thinning if they have had significant weight change.Kind regards,Dean

Answer: #Abdominoplasty HiThe short answer is yes and this is often done depending on the size of the mons. The mons is also almost always elevated as part of the procedure. Essentially you can decide how low your scar can be placed.RegardsDamien

Answer: High pubic hairline after tumy tuck This is a great question and common misconception for patients and surgeons. The incision does not and should not have to be at the hair line. I consistently put mine lower than that. On a stretched position, my incision is 6-7 cm above the cleft. this allows for removal of some of the hair bearing area, gives a good lift to the mons and is much more aesthetically pleasing. During your consultation make sure to ask your board certified plastic surgeon to demonstrate exactly where they would position the scar.Good luck

Answer: Keep the scar low. Current trends are for very low rise undergarments/jeans/shorts. Generally the scar is kept quite low on my patients. The old teaching was to leave 7 cm (3 inches, about the length of your index finger) from the top of the labia to the top of the pubic hair. We are now using about 5 cm (2 inches) for nearly all women. This can be important from both the hair growth standpoint, but also the color of the skin which is often a bit darker.Make sure to bring up those concerns when you see your plastic surgeon to be sure you're both on the same page prior to surgery.

Answer: The position of a tummy tuck scar. The answer to your question is definitely yes. My scar is often situated to remove the upper third of the pubic hair which allows for very nice suspension of the mons as well as keeps the scar low enough to be hidden in a bikini.
