What is the maintenance like on lip fillers?

Thank you for sharing your excellent questions and congratulations on your lip augmentation!  Lips are best augmented incrementally, with a small amount placed at each session until you reach your desired shape and volume.  Once at this size your lips will slowly break down the filler material and when you notice them to be too small for your tastes you can have a touch up performed back to your desired size.  This often requires much less than the original augmentation.  Hope this helps.

Normally with lip injections/ Juvederm it can last up to a year depending how the body metabolizes it. so i would say to follow up in about 6-9 months. you will have to get touch ups here and there as your lips are always moving. 

Usually the first time you have lip injections,
you hold onto the product anywhere from 9-12 months. With the second and third
syringe, I have found my patients hold the product longer and don't metabolize
it as quickly. 

Lip fillers generally have a shorter duration because the lip is such a dynamic structure. I think it is reasonable to expect a duration of 6-12 months depending on the filler used. A new filler has just gained FDA approval for use in more dynamic areas of the face, such as the lips. The manufacturer focused on making it a highly elastic product that will hopefully last longer. The fillers are called Refyne and Defyne. You should ask about these specifically next time you can.

Thank you for your excellent question. If you like the  shape  and volume of your lips , I would suggest to have a touch up performed on your lips  every 3 months . You would need much less than your original enhancement,and it will keep your desired enhancement longer.

Although Juvederm can last for up to a year, the length of results depends on the area being treated, with lips lasting the shortest. Hyaluronic acid fillers give smooth, natural-looking results for lip augmentation generally lasting less 3-4 months. Once you have achieved your desired volume and shape you can anticipate having the lips touched up every 6-9 months.  The amount needed at touch up will depend on how quickly your body dissolves the product, but you if you go for regular touch ups you will probably not need as much product as was originally injected.
