I am 16 years old. WIll my breasts continue to grow after I am done breast feeding?

You are still growing physically so I would not be surprised if your breasts continue to grow, GOOD LUCK

At what age do breasts stop growing? That is tough to answer since that depends on your genes and also on hormone levels present in your body. If you really want to answer that as scientifically as possible then you need to meet with an endocrinologist to see if they can chart your progesterone and estrogen levels and possibly make some predictions.  Pregnancy during a time when breasts are usually still growing may have also affected the growth pattern of your breasts as well.

It is possible that you may still have breast growth but only time will tell.  After child birth and breast feeding, you should expect a lot of breast changes.Best,

Dear Wasina,In general, breasts will stop 'growing' when all other hormone related phenomenon from puberty stop changing. Some women have early puberty and early finishing of these changes, and some women have later and a more prolonged course. However, any changes to hormone levels, such as in pregnancy, nursing, etc. can change breasts, OCP may change growth, certain tumors may affect growth, weight gain will affect size, etc. The breast is composed of the breast gland that grows related to hormone levels of estrogen and prolactin as well as other hormones, but some women's breast tissue have more 'hormone receptors' than other women's and thus are more sensitive to hormone levels. That is why the hormone creams etc do not work on someone who naturally have smaller breasts because they are less sensative to hormones. In addition, the breast is also composed of fat tissue which grows and shrinks with weight gain and loss. So there is no simple answer here. It sounds like you had an early and short puberty and thus it seems unlikely that your breasts will grow. It is very common for breasts to shrink after breast feeding as well.  Only time will tell. Thank you for your question. Breasts do change with throughout a woman's life, especially with pregnancy, breast feeding, weight loss or gain and with age. You may want to wait a to consider a breast augmentation depending on how much it bothers you. Good luck!

Based on your history of childbearing, weight gain/weight loss, and breast feeding, it is difficult to determine whether your breasts will continue to develop in the future.If you gain weight in the future, you probably will gain in your breasts as well. Time will tell. You ask a good question, but there is not a simple answer.  There are two things at play here.  First, your breasts will continue to change as you age with most women reaching a stable size around age 20 - 22.  The other thing happening is your pregnancy and subsequent breast feeding.  Almost all women see an increase in size during pregnancy and as they breast feed.  What happens afterward is unpredictable.  Some women stay larger than they were before pregnancy.  Others go back to their previous size.  Many women find that their breasts are actually smaller.  What might happen in those women is that as the breast gland increases in size the natural fat in the breast goes away.  When the gland tissue is no longer needed it shrinks, but the fat does not come back.I know you would like a good prediction so you know what will happen to you but it is impossible to predict.  Exercise and massage really won't do anything to change the size.  You really will have to wait and see.  Best of luck to you and the new baby.
