Rhinoplasty for droopy tip. Is there a surgeon out there that can give me the nose I want without making it too short?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
The short answer is that yes it is possible to rotate your tip and change the contour of the dorsum of your nose without shortening. And there are many plastic surgeons and facial plastic surgeons that can accomplish that goal. One thing that you must keep in mind, however, is that the computer generated imagery is not a guarantee of exactly what you will look like.

No plastic surgeon that I know will give you a guarantee that you will look exactly a certain way and so sometimes the imaging can be a bit unrealistic. If you present to a plastic surgeons office and say that you would like a smoother dorsum, some tip rotation, or more tip projection then your surgeon should be able to accomplish this. On the other hand, if you present to the office and say that you want to look exactly a certain way, then that may be unrealistic and you may be disappointed.

If you can explain to your surgeon what your goals are then your surgeon can tell what is possible, how it will be achieved, and what you can realistically expect as a result.  Best of luck to you!

I have a very small chest, about 34 a. I don't want to be big, just a little fuller. What size would you recommend?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Selecting the size of a breast implant is a combination of personal preferences and the shape of your existing chest. In general, you select the size based on how you would like to look. If you select something that physically won't fit, your plastic surgeon will let you know.

One of the easiest ways to select the size is to use one of the sizing system. I think it provides a better assessment than the computer-generated images. It's really quite easy. You bring the size bra that you would like to fit into. You then select a variety of breast implant sizers until you find one that fills the bra and gives you the look that you want. The size is read off of the back of the sizer. It's helpful if you bring a friend to offer you advice.  In our office we give you a room and a full-length mirror and let you spend as much time as you would like selecting the implant that lets you look the way you want to look.  It's a personal decision and I find that people are much happier if they make the choice than if someone else tells them how they should look.

Best of luck to you!

I am 5'5" and 240lb. I want a TT and lipo. Should I lose weight first or get the TT/lipo then lose weight and look nice? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
A tummy tuck is designed to remove excess abdominal skin and tighten up the abdominal wall. If you have a tummy tuck and then lose weight, you may develop more redundant skin and the abdominal wall may not be as tight since you will also lose fat inside the abdomen. You will have a much better result If you reach your goal weight before proceeding with surgery.  You do not have to be thin, just a weight that you feel comfortable with. Best of luck to you!

How do I fix my distended abdomen? Is it my core strength or something more? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
The bulge in your abdomen can be caused by a spreading out the abdominal muscles (called the diastasis) which is a natural result of childbirth.  A diastasis does not typicallyImprove with exercise. It is not an issue of improving your core strength.  It is also possible that you have an umbilical hernia exacerbating the bulge. One of the components of an abdominoplasty is a repair of the abdominal muscles to improve your overall contour. I think you would definitely benefit from a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who can guide you on your best option.Best of luck to you!

Can counterrotation after Rhinoplasty relieve a collapsed sidewall?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
This is definitely the kind of question that will require an in-person examination. You can have deformity of your nose following trauma due to displacement of previous graphs, injury to existing cartilage, or fracture of the cartilage. Without an exam there is no way to be certain. Most likely you will require an additional surgery to correct the damage done by the trauma. I would suggest making a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon and allow them to review your previous rhinoplasty and your current condition. Only then will you have a carefully informed opinion and a good plan on how to proceed. Best of luck to you.

I have a lateral displacement issue with my breast implants. I would like to get this problem corrected. Any suggestion? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Your breast implants can be shifting for a couple of different reasons. One would be the formation of the capsular contracture. This can move the implant. You may also have relaxation of some of the tissue on the lateral breast allowing the pocket to change shape. You would definitely need an in person examination by a board certified plastic surgeon to evaluate the cause.

It is possible you may benefit from changing the plane of the implant to below the muscle.Order it is possible to adjust the existing pocket.  Leaving your implants out for an extended period of time is not a common recommendation. This would definitely be something to discuss with your surgeon.Best of luck to you.

Getting approved for breast reduction

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Most insurance companies publish documents listing the requirements for various procedures. This includes breast reductions. Most of the time you must document a combination of back or neck pain, grooving in your collarbones, or intractable rashes underneath the breasts. Some insurance companies require you to have a period of physical therapy, professional bra fitting, or a trial of weight loss.

The best way to proceed would be to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Your surgeon can educate you about the requirements of your specific insurance company. Once these requirements have been met then your surgeon will submit a letter for approval. In my experience I have found that despite their bad reputations, most insurance companies are very reasonable in approving breast reductions.

Keep in mind, however, that back pain can have a variety of causes. Your surgeon can help you determine if they come from excessive breast weight or if a further workup would be indicated. Given the degree of pain that you describe, I would not delay. Best of luck to you!

Will my nose skin sag after nasal hump reduction? (Photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Fortunately, the skin on the nose has significant elasticity. It will contract very nicely to cover any underlying shape quite well. This is different than the skin around the jowls or the loose skin that can occur around the eyes. Whatever the plan that you and your surgeon create for your rhinoplasty, your skin will accommodate it without any problems. Best of luck to you!

Do rhinoplasty scars inside the nose stay forever or obstruct breathing?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
When a physician does a rhinoplasty, whether it is open or closed, there are incisions made inside the nose. The length of the incision and the orientation depends on the technique that the surgeon will use. Fortunately the nasal skin heals quite well. Scarring is very uncommon and the skin usually looks quite flat. I'm surprised at how difficult it is to see the scars when I look into a nose even a few weeks after surgery. Unless something unexpected happens the scars will not cause any difficulty in breathing and should not be visible. Best of luck to you!

How to clean nose 3 days after rhinoplasty?? I can't breathe.

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
This is definitely a question that you should discuss with your rhinoplasty surgeon. Your breathing difficulty may just be an issue of swelling or dried blood but may also be caused by a small hematoma or other problem. You definitely don't want to try any cleaning technique that your surgeon has not approved since it may damage the rhinoplasty repair and lead to a poor outcome. I'm sure that your surgeon would want to know if you're having difficulty. Best of luck to you.

26 Years Old, First Time Fillers- Restalyne Silk - Atlanta, GA

I have wanted lip fillers for about two years, but my husband was never supportive of the idea (or the cost). One of the first things I wanted to do, pending my divorce from him, was to treat myself with a little lip boost! I had visited the Plastic Surgery of Gwinnett website many times before and was on their email list. One of the big specials for February was discounted Restalyne Silk for their "silky lips event." I eagerly made an appointment. The office is conveniently located on the Gwinnett Medical campus (great for surgery needs!) The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful during my visit. I didn't have to wait at all to be taken back to a room, and to have numbing cream applied. Dr. Rosenthal has a great personality and an artistic touch. I felt more comfortable than I expected after talking with him about my wishes for my lips. While injecting the Restalyne Silk, Dr. Rosenthal used a conservative approach, encouraging me to take my time looking closely at my lips after each section was injected. I loved the improvements to my upper lip immediately! This wasn't a nerve-wracking or painful experience; it was actually fun! The product, paired with skilled hands and a perfectionist's eye, has defined my lips beautifully! They definitely appear larger and more shapely. It does not look obviously "done" and is more natural than I ever thought possible. It's safe to say I'm hooked on this procedure! I also had a little product left that he will save for me (for 2 weeks) if I decide to add any more filler after my lips have healed. I will be back to their practice to check out another procedure I've wanted for a long time (rhinoplasty)! Fantastic experience!
