This patient recently underwent a facelift with another doctor. However, she was dissatisfied with the lack of improvement in the neck. Secondary face and neck lift was performed to restore youthful neck contour.

This woman presented two years after having a lower facelift and necklift performed by another surgeon.  She had been satisfied with her initial result, however, she noticed significant return of jowls and neck laxity/looseness only a few months after her procedure.  She presented to our Center with the request of a re-lift of both her neck and jawline.Under local anesthesia and mild oral sedation with valium, we performed a revision lower facelift and necklift in our Center.  Her results demonstrate a much improved jawline along with better contour under her chin.

She was unhappy with the scarring around her ears, unhappy with the persistent jowling and neck banding and unhappy with the overall aged appearance she still had. This lovely woman presented to our Center with the complaint of continued sagging neck and lower facial skin after she had a lower facelift and necklift over a year ago by another surgeon.  She felt that she did not receive the tighter neck and jawline that she had expected.  We discussed together the plan of a revision lower facelift and necklift to restore the contour that she wished for.  The procedure was performed under local anesthesia in our office setting in just under two hours.  Only light oral sedation with valium was given along with the local anesthetic (lidocaine).  Her recovery time was about 10 days and was back to most activity at that point in time.  Her after photos demonstrate a much better contoured neckline and jawline while keeping a natural appearance.

While she was initially pleased with the results, an SMAS only technique was used and it created a lot of tension on her skin and one can therefore see the widened scars which are thick, pale and visible around the ears. She also had some complications with her previous surgery that led to significant scar tissue and contour irregularities in her neck.
