Our patient wanted her breasts to look lifted, not just larger, and she chose Dr. Timothy Katzen to help refine both shape and position in one surgery. She is a 65-year-old White female who weighed 115 lbs at the time of her procedure. Dr. Katzen recommended a breast implant with a breast lift because implants add volume, whereas a lift repositions the breast tissue and nipple to a more youthful height, improving balance in bras and swimwear. Under general anesthesia, he carefully measured and marked the breasts to plan how much skin should be removed and where the new nipple position would look most natural. After creating the lift, Dr. Katzen placed the implants to achieve upper fullness and improve projection, then reshaped the breast tissue over the implant so that the contour appears smooth rather than round and unnatural. Our patient is a 56-year-old Middle Eastern female who weighed 139 lbs and came to Dr. Timothy Katzen two years after her original breast augmentation because her right breast began to feel tight and look less natural from a thickened scar tissue capsule around the implant. Dr. Katzen recommended a right breast capsulectomy, a breast implant revision procedure that removes the hardened capsule to allow the breast to soften, move more naturally, and regain better symmetry. Under general anesthesia, he reopened the prior incision so scar placement remained as discreet as possible, then carefully separated and removed the abnormal capsule from around the implant. This capsule can act like a shrink wrap layer, changing breast shape and making the implant feel firm. Once the restrictive scar tissue was removed, Dr. Katzen refined the implant pocket, confirmed that the implant was properly seated, and shaped the surrounding tissue so that the breast contour appeared smooth rather than pulled. The tissues were closed in multiple layers to reduce tension, support healing, and improve scar quality. After surgery, a supportive bra and activity guidance help swelling settle and protect the repair while the breast softens over time.
