I'm a 24yo female with heavy eyelids and noticeable fat protrusion at the corners of my upper eyelids, could it be lacrimal gland prolapse or orbital fat protrusion? My lower eyelids are asymmetrical; I have a visible eye bag on the right only when I smile, but not on the left. Although there are no large bags when Im not smiling, some excess fat makes me look tired. Some clinics say Im too young for blepharoplasty, but I worry alternatives wont effectively address my issues.
Its been almost a year after I had surgery for a prolapsed Lacrimal Gland and I am unhappy with the results. There is a fleshY bump on my eyelid the doctor said it wasnt the lacrimal gland and that it doesnt look that bad. I had 2 dexmethasone shots it still looks bad I just want help on how to fix this.
I had an upper blepharoplasty in March of 2022. My surgeon said an incredible amount of allergic swelling stretched skin and herniated fat through the muscle wall. I've already noticed some volume returning to my eyelids, particularly at the outer corners. These areas project forward more than to the side and more on the right. When I press on them, they recede momentarily before slowly filling back out, like a balloon inflating. Have my lacrimal glands fallen, or is the swelling returning?
11 months post op. Incisions were made too high, not following the natural curvature. Now i have indented rolling scars that can't be hidden. Additionally, large divot is making things worse, what i suspect is prolapsed gland? Scars look better when i gently pull down excess skin at outer corners, but divot wont improve. Surgeon wants to cut using old incisions, i want to use my natural crease this time, gently tightening excess skin at outer corners while repositioning glands. Is this right?
I underwent lacrimal gland repair and an upper blepharoplasty. Unfortunately, I was not aware that I would have incision lines visible on the outside of my eyes, aggressive fat and muscle removal, lowered eyebrows, and asymmetry of my eyes. I cannot begin to describe the intense psychological distress this has caused me. I would lik to have my hooded eyes restored, eyebrows raised and arched, crease slightly lowered, ptosis corrected, and eyes symmetrical in size and setting. Thank you!
If lacrimal gland prolapse is suspected, why would some doctors want to do a biopsy before resuspension (insurance covers)? Is it necessary to rule out medical causes? Is there any reason not to have the biopsy with the resuspension? Other doctors are saying it's purely cosmetic (insurance doesn't cover) and no biopsy needed so I'm confused. Want to have it done right. All doctors are certified ASOPRS doctors.
I have bilateral swelling of my lacrimal glands for about 6 months now. I believe the cause is from chronic epstein barr. But I hate the way my eyes look. Is there any chance of getting a plastic surgeon to help me get rid of them? Or am I stuck with them swelling all the time?
When I came out of surgery I was surprised at what I saw. The doctor had cut me from one side of my eye to the other. I went in on yesterday, I advised him I was not expecting to be cut this way. He basically dismissed my concerns. Told me it will have to heal.. I know of there are imperfections they will heal that way..I have an appointment in 2 weeks.
I have this condition and I'm wondering how successful is the surgery to correct it? and how often the condition will reoccur after the surgery. Of course I know the suture is supposed to stay in place to suspend the lacrimal glands from falling off but how long will that last? What kind of complications have your patients experienced?
