Corrected ears to be closer to the head. However, after the surgery an abnormality surfaced, and the surgeon identified it as a keloid. Consequently, he attempted a correction, discovering that it was, in fact, an issue with the cartilage. Nevertheless, he proceeded with the surgery in an attempt to correct the problem. Regrettably, the current outcome appears to be worse, if not better. What steps can I take to address and correct this situation?
I first had otoplasty done by an amazing plastic surgeon in Perth who always puts his patients first, and very happy with the results. I went back a few years later to have a minor adjustment. I would love my surgeon to perform another minor surgery to adjust them back more. I feel they are growing and would like them set back just a little bit, but wondering if it would create an unnatural look or keloids were a risk? He adjusted them slightly and I would be happy for him to do the same
I'm considering getting an otoplasty but worried that I could get a keloid. I have a small keloid on my chest from chickenpox from 15 years ago. What are the chances I could get another keloid from otoplasty? I'm a 30 year old male of Indian origin. thanks
I'm planning on doing an ear pinning and reshaping surgery, however my surgeon told me that there is a chance for keloid to build up on my scar. How much of a chance is it? Is it too risky to do the surgery? And is there a way to avoid it/remove it?
Does silicone scar tape such as Mepitac Silicone Tape work the same as silicone gel sheets for treating scars? Is it as effective? I'm having a keloid removed on my upper ear and I'm looking into purchasing silicone tape or sheets for treatment after. I planned to use the silicone sheets under a compression earring, so I figured the Mepitac Tape would work better because of how thin it is and how it adheres better. I want to make sure it has the same effect as silicone gel sheets though.
I am female Caucasian I have two keloids on the tops of each ear this Friday I am getting them excised along with some upper ear reconstruction, my doctor thinks I have a good chance of them never coming back if he reduces tension also I will be wearing pressure earrings for a year or so anyways was wondering why they come back bigger if the entire keloid including the initial injury itself it taken out? I don't scar up like this anywhere else and I don't understand why it would come back bigger
I had otoplasty surgery years ago, around one year after my surgery i began to develop a keloid scar behind my right ear, it grew to a fair size before i began steroid injections. I then noticed a small one begin behind the left ear, which again, years after initial operation. I have ZERO evidence of keloids anywhere else on my body, infact, i have many scars, all of which are completely normal. Ive had the keloids removed today, any idea why i developed them in first place? Allergy to sutures?
I had otoplasty 4 months ago (permanent suture no cartilage removal) I had some complications. 1) After surgery I had a permanent suture eroding 2) All skin stitches removed at 19 days 3) Permanet suture removal @ 23 days. Doctor put a new one permanent suture in place and 1 skin stitch 4) 1 skin stitch removal / and the tip of the new permanent suture trimmed @ 28th day 5) I'm @ 16 week (4 month) skin looks bumpy and have white hard texture under skin
I have a keloid that have many treatments has started to flatten. Unfortunately, as it regressed it also spread. It is now attached to the base of my ear (where the neck and ear meet). The actual scar doesn't bother me as much as the strange sensations i get at the connection as well as the outer and even upper parts of my ear. Are these nerves damaged? Is the scar growing again (why would I have the same feeling in the scar as I do a perfectly normal ear?). I've had my most success with cryo.
