Is silicone scar tape the same as silicone gel sheets for scars? (Photo)

Does silicone scar tape such as "Mepitac Silicone Tape" work the same as silicone gel sheets for treating scars? Is it as effective? I'm having a keloid removed on my upper ear and I'm looking into purchasing silicone tape or sheets for treatment after. I planned to use the silicone sheets under a compression earring, so I figured the Mepitac Tape would work better because of how thin it is and how it adheres better. I want to make sure it has the same effect as silicone gel sheets though.
