I hope that this vide response that I've put together, answering this question is found to be helpful.
Different preparations (cream versus gel) and their properties help determine how long your provider leaves the numbing treatment on before injection, Usually, the longer the better. Ice is also a great addition to help decrease pain and bruising.
Hi, thanks for your question. Yes, in most cases if the numbing cream is left on longer it should have more of a numbing effect. Typically, getting lip filler should not feel painful. Some patients may find the sensation a little strange but not painful. Please speak to your provider if you have any concerns about your lip filler treatment.
Thank you for sharing your question. In most cases yes, the longer the cream is on the better the numbing. In most cases 15 minutes or longer may be required.
Pain tolerance is different for each patient, 20-30mins of numbing cream should be enough , in addition to this, ice is also helpful with the numbing, and we also advise our patients to take 1-2 Tylenol 1 hr before treatment to help ease with any discomfort. Always consult with a board certified medical professional for your filler treatments for best results.
Hi, Thank you for your question. In our practice, we apply numbing cream to the lips with occlusion, for 30 - 45 minutes prior to injection. In the vast majority of cases, this is sufficient to make the injections quite tolerable. However, there are some patients who have a low pain tolerance and in those cases, I will perform a facial block prior to the injections. The middle of the upper lip has a separate innervation apart from the rest of the upper lip so in some cases, I will inject a small amount of local anesthetic there, which makes the injection much more comfortable. I have patients that routinely return to the clinic for a refresh of their lip filler periodically so they appear to think that the discomfort of the filler is worth it! Hope that this helps. Good luck.
This is a very important question. My patients always have 10 to 20 min of numbing cream. Sometimes i have to do another 10 min before do the treatment but most of the times 20 min is enough for the lip treatment with fillers. The most important thing is to put enough cream. The short answer is yes. We "pre-treat" our patients at least 15 minutes before proceeding. We use a 20/8/8 BLT anesthetic cream after cleansing the area we are treating. A while ago we discovered that using a home derma roller, with a depth of 0.2-0.25 mm (only) prior to applying the anesthetic greatly increased its effectiveness. Anything deeper will cause bruising and possibly scarring of the lip.We can always do a "dental" block. Wei inject approximately 0.5 cc of lidocaine into four areas around d the "eye teeth" on the upper and lower gums. This will last 4-6 hours so don't plan on lunching after a dental block
Numbing cream can decrease the pain with filler injection as it numbs the skin and you do not feel the puncture of the needle. Depending on the type of numbing cream, it needs to sit on the skin for 15-30 minutes. Leaving it on longer than that does not help because the numbing cream only absorbs into the top most layers of the skin. Most fillers have lidocaine mixed into them, the area will feel numb as the filler injections are going in. Good luck!
Yes, numbing cream helps to make lip filler treatment more comfortable. The longer it is left on, the more the numbing will be in effect. If a Juvederm XC product is used there will be a numbing agent mixed in with the filler as well.
Hi, Thank you for your question! The answer is "no". To the best of my knowledge, the longevity of the product, once injected, should be the same as long as the product has not expired.
Hello and thank you for your question. We would always recommend a face to face consult however in this case yes you could still have lip filler however the scarring may become more prominent. It would be hard to say exactly what this would look like and a face to face consult would be best to...
For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest...
