Can I have a liposuction if I'm "too small"? (Photo)

Question

I've had several consultations with doctors around the Philadelphia area and one of them said that I was too small and that they could only do one area at a time. Eg. abdomen and then another time flanks. Another dr. Said that I needed to gain 32 pounds! im currently 121 pounds and I'm 5'3. The most I have weighted is 132 and I looked horrible, I can't imagine being heavier than that. I am starting to get discouraged because I can't find a doctor who would actually perform a lipo on me :(

You look like an excellent candidate for liposuction, and possibly high definition liposuction. I recommend looking at a variety of surgeons” before and after photos as well as reviews to determine who is qualified to take on your type of case. Good luck!

Thank you for your question.  Looking at the photo you have provided I believe you are a great candidate for flank and love handles liposuction. I see no reason to have to separate the procedures.  It will reduce you down a few inches and just help with better shape.  I would suggest speaking with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in person to evaluate you and discuss your options. Thank you for your question regarding if you are too small for liposuction of multiple areas at a time. I find it strange that multiple doctors have told you that you could only get liposuction on multiple body parts at once. I have had patients smaller than you who got liposuction of the abdomen, flanks, back, arms, neck, and thighs. Of course, consultations are in order. By examining your photos, it looks like you are a good candidate of liposuction of the abdomen, flanks, and back. We can then use the suctioned fat to be transferred to another area if you prefer. The claim that you need to gain weight in order to undergo the procedure is not typically recommended, as liposuction is intended to remove excess fat that doesn't respond to diet and exercise, even for individuals at a healthy body weight. In fact, being at or near your ideal body weight is often ideal for liposuction because it helps achieve the best sculpted results. Some of the best candidates for liposuction are those at their ideal body weight.  Liposuction helps remove the excess fat that doesn’t change with exercise and diet, like the abdomen and flanks.  Patients need good skin quality for liposuction and realistic expectations are always important in plastic surgery.

Although an in person evaluation is always best, from the submitted photos it appears you are a reasonable candidate for liposuction.  Typically more than one area can be performed at a time, though there is an overall limit.  Weight gain in order to have liposuction is not recommended.
