Hi, i'm 5'9 and in relatively great health (don't drink or smoke) and weigh around 160. I'm 38 and I have a little bit of fat that I want gone on my sides and stomach. I've lost my confidence and working out isn't enough. A guesstimate is okay too, as i understand there needs to be in person consultation to really determine final cost. I want to save myself and a doctors time in person if i can't afford it yet. Thanks!

Liposuction costs vary depending on the city and state. In San Francisco, prices are generally higher due to the higher costs of doing business. I would estimate the range to be $10-15,000. If done under local anesthesia, you could save 10 per cent. Be careful and due your due diligence and find a reputable  surgeon. You probably will pay more for quality.

You’re fat distribution is more subcutaneous than many men.
Most men carry less subcutaneous fat and have more visceral fat.
Kerry Morris of continuous fed in comparison to visceral fat has a few particular advantages for you.
It makes you a far better candidate for liposuction if you choose to have that procedure and it also is associated with much lower rates of cardiovascular disease.
Individuals who have a visceral fat heavy fat distribution tend to also be at increased risk for metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease.
Back to the topic.
Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe.
If you move forward and have this procedure and in my opinion your biggest worry should be not finding a sufficiently talented and noble provider.
Even with San Francisco having over 200 plastic surgeons the number of providers who truly have mastered liposuction and can deliver stunning results on a consistent basis is relatively small.
Personally I view the torso as a single anatomic unit and generally believe in treating the entire torso if you’re going to do liposuction of your abdomen. My treating the torso as a single anatomic unit and treating the entire torso patients are left for an even thin fat distribution without transition zone between treated and on treated areas.
Your body fat is almost 1 inch thick. well done Liposuction should reduce that down to about a quarter inch or even less. It will not look normal to have a quarter inch thick fat layer on your abdomen and waist and then have your back have a fat that’s 1 inch thick. The same is true with the transition into your armpit etc.
In my practice at full torso includes upper abdomen, lower abdomen,, Love handles, waist, full back and armpits. they should probably consider treating their chest as well even if they don’t have gynecomastia to make sure that the fat layer is not thicker on the chest than it is on the abdomen. Some men can skip removing fat from the back but I found that including the under arm area all the way up into the armpit following the latissimus and pectoralis muscles is particularly important to show good muscle definition. The chest area where your serratus muscle is needs to be included.
Perhaps a bit technical.
The best analogy I can give you for treating the entire torso and not leaving any part of it and treated as painting a house. if you’re going to paint The outside of a house you should probably paint all the walls the same color.
Personally I don’t think you can properly vet plastic surgeons by having virtual consultations.
Liposuction is not cheap and price does not equal quality when it comes to this procedure.
There are plenty of experienced board-certified plastic surgeons with years of experience who are not particularly good at liposuction.
There are in fact a substantial number of plastic surgeons who don’t like doing liposuction so results typically reflect their own enthusiasm for doing the procedure.
Look at plastic surgeon‘s website to see who has the most number of male liposuction before and after pictures.
Contouring the male torso is different than treating the female torso and the surgeons need to recognize the inherent differences.
For example on a male the goal is not to narrow the waist as much as possible. The goal is to create a V-shaped torso not a feminine S-curve.
Schedule at least five in person consultations.
Come prepared for the consultation by bringing with you printed pictures of your own body taken the same way plastic surgeons take before and after pictures. The pictures you have are sufficient. But you may want to reconsider taking new pictures having someone else take the picture for you or use the timer on your camera.
Look carefully at how plastic surgeons take before and after pictures of the torso and you’ll get an idea of what we need.
During each consultation ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of male abdominal or torso liposuction results.
Being shown a handful of preselected images representing the best results of their career is totally insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like or how many of these procedures any one surgeon has actually done.
Ask providers to only show you before and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body characteristics to your own.
This means Mail abdomens on individuals who are young, have relatively tight skin and moderate amounts of subcutaneous fat. Bring your own pictures with you for confirmation.
There’s no point and looking at the results of patience to a different body characteristics in your arms. Candidacy for Liposuction fairies massively in regards to who has the potential to get quality results.
In that regard you’re actually a very good candidate for this procedure.
And the end there are only two variables that matter when it comes to liposuction results. Patient candidacy and the scale of the surgeon.
Someone who’s an excellent candidate can have excellent results if the procedure is done by a sufficiently experienced provider. like I mentioned earlier not all board-certified plastic surgeons with years of experience and overall good reputation are necessarily good at Liposuction.
Look very carefully at the results making sure there are no skin contour irregularities in any of the areas treated.
Ask the provider to find out exactly what areas were treated and what areas were not treated and look carefully at transition zones between treated and untreated areas.
Personally I believe the contouring the torso requires turning the patient on the side or face down during surgery. if the procedure is done using general anesthesia then you should ask specifically if the surgeon is going to turn you during the procedure.
This may not sound consequential but it is not possible to contour the backside of the torso which is half of it without turning you on your side or face down.
Turning people under general anesthesia is cumbersome and time intensive and some surgeons don’t bother doing this. their results will suffer if the surgeon doesn’t have proper exposure to do the procedure correctly. Make sure you look very carefully at results looking from all of you including from behind.
Ask providers to show you examples of excellent results, average results and results that didn’t turn out as well as they had hoped.
Ask you to provide her with the revision rate and revision policy is.
For reference an experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you a minimum of 50 set of before and after pictures of commonly performed procedures like abdominal liposuction,
Men represents less than 10% of liposuction surgery but experienced surgeons should in fact have hundreds or even thousands of before and after pictures of commonly perform procedures.
To be fair a provider for male liposuction should be able to show you at least 20 to 30 quality sets of before and after pictures. In my opinion this is an absolute minimum.
If a provider cannot demonstrate at least 20 sets of before and after pictures then he there they’re not willing to show you their average results or they just don’t have enough experience at all.
Take careful notes during each consultation especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after picture outcomes.
Complete all five consultations before committing to having surgery.
When in doubt slow down and schedule more consultations.
Liposuction results are permanent and irreversible.
If done poorly patients are left disfigured.
This is not an in frequent occurrence and happens in the hands of doctors with years of experience will have all the right credentials.
It is the patience responsibility to properly vet each provider to make sure that surgeon pass the scale and experience to deliver quality results.
Do not make any assumptions when it comes to Liposuction during the consultation process.
When in doubt slow down and schedule more consultations.
I cannot stress enough the importance of choosing the best provider for this procedure.
Results vary massively depending on who you choose.
This is very much one of those do it once do it right type of things in life.
If you’re not sure then wait until you find a provider you are confident as the skills and experience get you the results you want.
Liposuction of your torso is going to cost around $20,000.
If you’re willing to have the procedure by doctors who are not trained in plastic surgery and have a little experience you may be able to find the procedure for under $10,000.
Don’t look for bargains when shopping for plastic surgery or parachutes.
Personally I prefer to do all liposuction with patients awake using local anesthesia with mild sedation.
My practice has been devoted to exclusively to doing only liposuction and fat transfer results for the last decade.
I’ve done over 8000 liposuction procedures.
I can tell you that doing Liposuction well is much more difficult than most people believe and this includes plastic surgeons.
Most plastic surgeons think they’re much better at Liposuction and they actually are.
Choose carefully.
