Is it possible that the eyes of a healthy person can become more close or wide set over time as the body grows into adulthood?

The rate of growth of the eye sockets slows down at the surprisingly young age of six. After that age the eye sockets are mainly fixed in space beneath the skull and the rest of the face catches up. In women, by the age of sixteen the face has developed its mature craniofacial proportions. This happens two to three years later for men. However, nasal growth can give the optical illusion that the eyes are closer together. I suspect that it is in fact an optical illusion that your eyes have become closer together in the last five to ten years. It is far more likely that your face has in fact grown larger over the last few years. To fix this one has to look at the rest of the proportions of your face (cheeks and nose). It is possible to move eye sockets apart but this is huge and at time dangerous surgery and only used for patients with craniofacial deformity.
