Fortunately upper eyelid scars are usually some of the best scars in the human body. However, they often can take 3 to 5 months to fully settle down. In many cases even a plastic surgeon cannot determine where they are. There can also be some redness or pinkness in the skin just above the lashes which can persist also for above have time.
Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Based on your photo, your incision is somewhat high. Fortunately, most eyelid incisions heal very well and it might not be a problem in a few months. If you end up with a double crease, a revision surgery might be in order.
Your incisions do appear higher than the natural eyelid crease. These will fade in the next few months and should not be noticeable when full healed.
Your scar does appear high in this picture. Upper eyelid scars usually heal nicely so that eventually you may not see anything - especially when looking straight ahead. will be more noticeable when looking down.
The incision does appear to be high based on the image you submitted. The scar should fade over time and hopefully will blend in well when it is completely matured. This will likely take 3-6 months.
Your concern about the scar is understandable, but I hope that my answer and the answers of others help to clear things up and give you some reassurance. As one other surgeon mentioned, the camera angle and downward gaze in the photo may be making the incision look higher than it truly is. We try to design incisions that fall within the natural creases and contours so that they blend seamlessly and are less obvious. The most important thing to consider is that you are only at 6 weeks from surgery. That is a time when incisions sometimes go through a second wave of inflammation. They can often look worse around week 5 or 6 than they did at week 3. This is a normal and natural part of the wound healing process of the skin. Those incisions will continue to fade noticeably over the next few weeks and months. Hopefully, given more time your results will continue to improve as the incisions become less noticeable.
The scars do look slightly high. BUT please do not worry, these scars generally fade to a point where they are very difficult to see. You should still have a good result. Jane
Thank you for sharing your question and photo. You are looking down in the photo. Please repost a photo taken at eye level looking directly into the lens. Scars can take up to a year to improve, so it is too early to accurately judge final results. Please repost a photo where you are looking down and looking straight in another 6 weeks. Good luck.
Hello Jolene4kids,Yes. Your upper eyelid incision does appear high, but be patient. The good news is this incision should continue to fade and improve over time. Make sure you ask your surgeon what else you can do to improve on the scar. Best of luck!
PLEASE do not try to correct the shape, size of your eyes or size of your eyelids. You have a slight (very slight) eyelid droop, that may need correction as you get older. Otherwise you have no deformities. You look good, far from horrific. Please go out and have fun,...
Hi FlowerPower! It is hard to answer your question without a photo, but it sounds like you might have a combination of eyebrow ptosis and deep set eyes. Typically, there isn't much you can do if your eyes are deep set. But, some problems might make your eyes just look deep set - ie, people with...
Doing a PRP microneedling (vampire lift) during your blepharoplasty recovery is a good idea. They can be combined the same week, or at the same time.Best wishes, Dr. Denkler
