I keep reading how unlikely it is to see good results from radio frequency treatments. I saw this video, showing a pretty decent looking improvement, after even only one, 15 minute treatment. Which also begs me the question, why do they always seem to try to sell you a 'package' of at least 10 treatments if they aren't maybe needed? Ty.
Answer: Morpheus8 is great for skin tightening Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Radio Frequency cannot offer fat reduction alone Many thanks for your question. The first thing to look for is FDA approval with any machine. This means it comes with a level of 'guarantee' that the machine or treatment is safe and its efficacy has been proven, meaning you are assured you will get safe and effective treatments. With RadioFrequency you can get results that look like they give an immediate lift, but this is due to the skin tightening temporarily with the heat of the treatment. The real results, come between 6-9 months after a course of treatments due to radio frequency triggering your wound healing process that will produce collagen and elastin starting from three months after treatment. To address a double chin, you may want to consider CoolAdvantage by CoolSculpting to give effective treatments. While RadioFrequency offered by treatments such as Accent Prime will contour, this will not address the fat in the double chin. This is addressed with Accent Prime's UltraSound and RadioFrequency treatment. The reason for needing multiple treatments essentially comes down to how much fat is needed to be treated in an area. Again, this cannot be done with Radio Frequency and only with UltraSound or treatments such as CoolSculpting. I hope this helps and best of luck!

Answer: Kybella/ Coolsculpting Double Chin Double chin (or Submental fat) is most commonly due to hereditary disposition The two best non-surgical treatments to reduce Submental Fat is Kybella and/or Coolsculpting Mini. Kybella (Deoxcholic Acid) is the first non-surgical, FDA approved injection to reduce submental fat. Some of the side-effects include bruising, swelling, redness and numbness. To reduce this we ask patients to discontinue any blood thinners prior to their treatment, and recommend an anti-inflammatory post treatment. Treatments are done once every 4-6 weeks, for up to 5 sessions. · Coolsculpting Mini is a non-surgical treatment that uses cryolipolysis (or freezing) to reduce stubborn pockets of fat. It works by delivering controlled cooling to a localized area, which then causes apoptosis (cellular death) to the submental fat. Some side-effects include swelling and numbness, but most patients return to normal activities the same day. We commonly recommend combining both treatments so the patients may achieve optimal results. Always discuss desired outcome with your Board-Certified Dermatologist.

Answer: Double Chin Rx Unfortunately you did not submit pictures. If your double chin is related to excess fat then I would recommend Coolsculpting. It permanently removes unwanted fat and has no downtime. It usually takes 2 treatments about 6 weeks apart. Another option is Kybella. RF would be a recommendation if you have loose skin. It is also in most cases non invasive but some devices are quite painful. As to number of recommended treatments, 10 treatments sounds a little aggressive. Get a second opinion. Best Wishes, Maurice Vick MD

Answer: Tightening with Radiofrequency There are a number of ways to tighten the skin with radiofrequency that have been shown to work well. The first is Thermage which requires one treatment initially and has no downtime. If your skin is not as tight as you would like it, you may repeat the treatment in four to six months for additional results. Another radiofrequency device that tightens skin with one treatment is the Profound. This device will produce more tightening, but has downtime of four to five days of swelling and some bruising as well. Devices that do not heat the skin as much may also tighten and these are usually done in a series of treatments. These include SkinTyte and GentleLift, both of which are lasers and not radiofrequency devices. The secret to tightening with any of these devices is the amount of heating that they cause in the dermis.
