Weight Loss and loose skin - laser treatment?

Question

I've lost about 90 lbs over 6 years and have some loose skin on my inner thighs, arms, and tummy. It's not so significant that I'd consider surgery, but I'm young and want to try and take care of it while my skin still as some bounce back! What kind of lasers would you recommend? All of my stretch marks are white at this point as well.

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

Non surgical options give only mild improvement compared to surgical lifting. With non-surgical treatments, skin tightening can be done with a combination of vanquish, venus legacy, exilis, celllutone/Zwave. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like a VASER liposuction, which can be performed at the same time as a tummy tuck and body lifting procedure, if you're a candidate. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Unwanted changes in the appearance and texture of the skin that occur due to natural aging, sun damage,  and/or  mild to moderate weight loss can be minimized with minimally invasive procedures such as fractional laser, radio frequency heat, microneedling with PRP . Unfortunately , for treatment of excessive amounts of redundant or hanging skin after significant weight loss, surgical reduction really provides the best functional and cosmetic result.

Thanks for the great question and congratulations on your weight loss! There unfortunately is not a perfect method for tightening skin after weight loss. The majority of the devices on the market such as Thermi, Ultera, and others generate heat to stimulate skin shrinkage and the formation of new collagen. Some of these devices are non-invasive, while others are minimally invasive. I recommend making an appointment with some doctors in your area so that they are able to evaluate your skin laxity and see if you might be a good candidate for non-surgical skin tightening.
