I know it will be at least 3 weeks until I am able to return to my ‘routine’ post laser treatment. I was wondering what are some recommendations to keep the new skin healthy looking it’s best. All I have ever used is a vit C serum with hyaluronic acid and hydra boost moisturizer. Should I add a retinol? I am only post-laser day 3 so I have time, just thinking in advance. Recommendations?
Answer: Post CO2 laser skincare It is very critical that you follow a strict post laser protocol designed by your physician.Treating the skin with Platelet Rich Plasma immediately after the Laser can reduce the downtime and better recovery. I love the following skincare products after CO2 laser (No Sun exposure and frequent dilute vinegar soaks to prevent infection) 1. Alastin Nectar 2. Alastin occlusive moisturizer(Thick layer) 3. Alastin sun screen 4. Skinceuticals C-E, B5 and Discoloration Defence

Answer: Best skincare after CO2 treatment: We recommend following the post-care instructions administered to you by your physician. If you’re looking for a vitamin C serum, clinical studies have demonstrated that SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF serum is well tolerated to be used post CO2 treatment. This product is a patented daytime antioxidant that provides protection against environmental damage caused by free radicals from UVA/UVB, infrared radiation (IRA), and ozone pollution (O3). Patients also saw a significant improvement in skin smoothness and general appearance at 1 week post treatment. Follow with a broad spectrum sunscreen daily. A night time, we suggest a retinol, such as SkinCeuticals 0.3 retinol. This product can be utilized once you have fully healed from the laser therapy. We recommend starting slowly at one or two nights per week, and gradually building up to nightly use as tolerable.

Answer: CO2RE Laser treatment Hey there,Keep your skin moist and avoid sun exposure by the use of a sunscreen. Retinol isn't recommended at this stage. Skin would take at least 2 weeks to heal, till then continue using vitamin c and a moisturizer. Retinol can be started once the inflammation has reduced Hope this helps.

Answer: Best skin care following CO2RE laser treatment? Most physicians have a certain regimen for their patients to follow as the skin is healing after a laser treatment. Newly lasered skin is very delicate, like a baby's skin, and even usual products that may be considered "natural or botanical" may contain ingredients that would be very irritating to the new skin. (Just because something is natural or botanical does not make it something good for the skin. I like to tell my patients that poison ivy is natural but I would never put it on my skin since I am highly allergic!) I would suggest discussing your ongoing skin care for the next month with the physician who performed your treatment. Best wishes, Mary Beth Mudd
