I’m 33 and have never struggled with weight but have always had a weak profile; it’s not necessarily fat under my chin but just no defined jawline whatsoever. I’ve tried one round of kybella and it didn’t seem to make any difference, I just went to another medspa and they recommended doing more rounds of kybella and then chin filler. Do you think this makes sense? Or should I just do jaw/chin filler and skip kybella?
Answer: Kybella Hi, I’m Lauren, the aesthetic injector here at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center. Kybella is a great option for reducing small to moderate amounts of fat under the chin. It offers a non-surgical alternative to liposuction, helping to improve the appearance of a double chin with less downtime and a quicker recovery. Many patients also notice enhanced jawline definition as the area becomes more contoured. It’s important to know that Kybella often requires multiple treatment sessions to achieve optimal results. If your primary goal is to enhance the jawline rather than reduce fullness under the chin, jawline filler may be a better option — or the two treatments can be combined for even more defined results. As always, the best next step is to consult with a skilled provider who can assess your unique anatomy and goals to create a personalized treatment plan tailored just for you.

Answer: Kybella It takes a series of treatments to get good results with Kybella. Keep in mind, Kybella is good for dissolving the submental fat under the chin area while contouring the jawline and making the chin more defined, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend a combination approach with Thermage, Ultherapy, and Exilis. InMode FaceTite / AccuTite with VASER Neck Liposuction is the best option for contouring and tightening the chin, neck, and jawline area. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Kybella versus liposuction Traditional submental and jawline liposuction with a cannula will get you the best results. Kybella is good for small isolated pockets of residual fat, There will only be one treatment needed with the traditional liposuction and the recovery is easy and fast. We perform this procedure in the office with sedation anesthesia.

Answer: Weak Profile I do think you would benefit from additional doses of Kybella. It usually takes 3-5 *full* treatments to yield significant results. Also, make sure you are being dosed correctly. Most people need more than one vial of Kybella at a time. Make sure your provider is using a grid system and dosing you fully and appropriately. Chin and jawline filler would be great additions to creating a stronger profile.

Answer: Do I need surgery to improve my jaw line? From the one limited photograph, it appears that you have a recessive chin, and fat deposits in your neck, most likely located both above and below the platysma muscle in your neck. Consider placement of a chin implant to augment your chin further forward for better facial balance and proportions. This will also help with your jawline. If the fat deposits are only located above the muscle, then liposuction can accomplish improvement. A neck lift procedure can accomplish surgical removal of the fat deposits below the muscle, which also includes a platysma plasty to significantly improve the jawline. No skin removal is needed. Both a chin implant and necklift surgery can be accomplished together under one anesthesia with one recovery.
