Warm leaking feeling after breast augmentation. Is this normal? (photos)

Today is Post Day 6. I got my breast augmentation in Miami and I flew back yesterday. I noticed that my right breast is more softer at the bottom of my breast although my implants are high and still need to drop. my left is still high and feelings hard all around my breast. Last night I felt a warm leaking feeling.. I do not know if this is normal?? I know it can be blood from the surgery but why do I feel the warmth? This is normal?

It is very early in your postop course but didn't your Miami surgeon arrange for you to followed in your home city? You should be seen by a board certified plastic surgeon for postop care.

Many patients complain of unusual feelings in the breast for several weeks after breast augmentation.Nevertheless, you should report this to your surgeon. Provide him with the photograph as well.

It is difficult to know whether you are simply having unusual sensations or if there is an issue that needs to be addressed.  I would recommend contacting your plastic surgeon for advice; they are best-suited to provide your postoperative care since they know exactly the procedure that was performed.

Thank you for your question and photograph.  As you mentioned, your implants are still riding high on your chest.  Several weeks will still need to pass in order for them to drop, fill the lower part of your breasts, and attain a more natural shape and appearance.  During breast augmentation, nerves can be stretched that can lead to different sensations in your breast and nipple, and time normally resolves this.  I am assuming the leaking sensation is felt on the inside of your breast, and that you do not have any fluid seeping from your incisions that may account for this.  The important thing is to be aware of your symptoms, and if you start to have any that worsen, you need to see your surgeon for follow-up care. They will also be able to answer any questions that you may still have at that time.

Your implants are very high and it looks like your areola are sagging.  Leaking fluid is another issue. Best to be seen in person.

Thank you for your clinical post and photographs.  Both implants do appear to be riding very
high in the chest wall and not filled out the lower pole of the breast.  Sensations of a warm leaking feeling can be
just neurosensory in nature or could be an indication of underlying fluid
collection such as seroma or a hematoma (small blood collection).

Flying in a plane after surgery can lead to an increased risk
of fluid collection in a pocket such as a breast augmentation procedure.

In the modern world today you could use digital communication
techniques such as Skype or FaceTime to communicate with your plastic surgeon
and find out his advice.  It is important
that you connect in person with your operating plastic surgeon as they are in
the best position to give you the kind of advice that you’re going to need in
order to optimize a wound healing.
