Why am I still in pain 2 weeks after capsulectomy?

Dear lynmosher, I'm sorry that you are have pain after your surgery. Unfortunately this is not uncommon. Capsulectomies under the muscle can cause a fair amount of pain and prolonged swelling. So long as the discomfort gets a little better day by day you should be ok. Keep eye out for redness or an abnormal amount of increased swelling, this may be a sign of infection. I'm sorry you are in so much pain. It sounds as though your nerves have been irritated as a result of what needed to be done during surgery.  The pain should improve slowly over time.  If it does not see your surgeon for an appointment.

It isn't unusual to still have pain 2 weeks after surgery.  The pain tends to be worse in patients that had implants below the muscle and in patients that had a thicker capsule that may have been adherent to the chest wall.  It sounds like you may fall into both of these categories.  The pain should gradually decrease over the first 4-6 weeks and then you will probably only feel it if you strain.  Best of luck and I hope you get to feeling better soon.
