Complications 3 mos post op with explant and mastopexy with Galaflex mesh. Infection or something else? Please help! (photos)

3/13 Explant, lift w galaflex. 6/2 Redness began, ABX started. 6/4 Blister like appearance. 6/5 Incised & drained "softball size" amt, mostly clear, no odor. Packed/wicked thru 7/13. 7/10 ABX started. 7/13 Discontinued wicking. 7/16 Began draining a lot of fluid. 7/18 Surgery, removed small amt of necrosis & mesh, no sign of infection. 7/18 ABX started. 7/18 Removed drain. 8/2 Redness began. 8/5 ABX started. 8/7 Redness increased, area very hard and painful. Your input is very much appreciated.

I'm sorry you are having so many issues.  It appears you have an infection.  I recommend an examination by surgeon and discussion of possible interventions.  Cultures may be done to help get more information to properly treat it.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  It does appear that you continue to have a breast infection which will require drainage by your physician, and removal of any foreign material that may remain.  Hopefully with good culture results of the fluid, and appropriate tissue debridement you will see quick recovery.  Best wishes.

Galaflex is absorbable material and used to provide support. One of the main risk of the mesh is infection and treatment includes antibiotics for short period. If there is no response to antibiotics then surgical removal needed. Please see your surgeon for treatment.

I'm so sorry you are having this problem.  It does appear you have an on going infection.  I would go back to your surgeon to be seen and examined.
