Hello I had a mini lift 7 months ago. Unfortunately it did not help the laxity under my chin/upper neck. My incisions are still red and thick. They don’t follow the natural contour of the ears like in the photos I see online. Especially my left ear, the incision is like an inch out from my ear. I am extremely regretful I had the procedure and now have to live with theee scars. The doctor that did the procedure said everything looks normal. What can I do to help these scars? Will they lighten?
Answer: Patience, and perhaps a revision is the best way forward. Thank you for your photographs. The red appearance of your mini facelift scar will likely fade gradually overtime and become less conspicuous and less red. This, however, does not change the position of your incision. It may be possible to have a revision, under local anesthesia, at some point in the future where the scar can be placed along the normal curves and contours of the ear, so that it is better hidden. To speed up the resolution of the redness of your scar you may consider having laser treatments, although these are expensive, and if you simply wait long enough, the scar will improve. Best wishes.

Answer: Scar revision At this time, I recommend you undergo a scar revision. The scars should be placed in the normal folds. This can be done under local anesthesia at minimal cost. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Cortisone cream and silicone gel helps fade red scars as well as IPL treatments. Don't worry. All is not lost. Your next lift can correct everything nicely. I would get it redone where the doc can do a more serious pull and hide the scars along the ridge of the inside ear so you don't see the scars and I would also fix the pixie ear so you have a nice curved earlobe also. Tightening up the jawline and neck would be so amazing. Cost is $15-20,000. And what a difference it would make. I do them under local with a little iv sedation for complete comfort. But for Now: Have your doc prescribe some triamcinolone cream 0.1% and apply it 1st along the red scar and then cover it with silicone gel. Both twice a day. Also get IPL treatments every 2-4 weeks to fade them faster.

Answer: Facelift The scars are not well placed. I think you would benefit from a revision placing the scars closer to your ears and correcting the shape of your earlobes as well. It’s a simple fix if the surgeon knows how

Answer: What can I do to minimize the appearance of red scars, seven month postop? Unfortunately, too much tension has been placed on you skin creating the red scars. You've got wide and hypertrophic scars, in addition to improper placement of the previous incision. You also have a pixie ear lobe on both sides. You should probably wait at least a year, and then, if there's enough laxity in your face, you need to undergo another facelift procedure in order to be able to place the incisions in a much more inconspicuous position. The amount of facial laxity will be a key driver on what you can accomplish trying to completely remove these old incisions. The pixie earlobes can also be repaired simultaneously. Choose your second surgeon very wisely based on extensive experience producing natural results. Study your prospective surgeon's before and after facelift photo gallery, and pay attention to the detectability of the incision itself in the after photos.
