Partial capsulectomy & implant exchange (Photo)

Question

Diagnosed with low grade contracture in R breast (330cc silicone under muscle). This breast is high and never settled. Scheduled to have partial Capsulectomy & implant exchange. What are the odds that it will settle this time around. I am afraid it will be the same all over again. Will I wake up to a breast that isn’t as high? Extreme assymetry since it never dropped post 1st surgery. Is it possible that my body won’t let it drop again?

Thank you for your question. It is difficult to predict who will get capsular contracture and why. While releasing part of the capsule may allow the implant to expand into the lower pole of your breast, there is definitely a chance that you will get capsular contracture again. In fact people who have had one episode of capsular contracture are more likely to get a second. More aggressive treatment and treating capsular contracture would it include removing the whole capsule, exchanging the implant location, and Using acellular dermal matrix. One or combination of these treatments can be used. Good luck.

Thank you for your question and posting appropriate pictures. I prefer nonsurgical Aspen ultrasound treatment for patients with Low grade capsular contracture as a first line treatment. This is series of treatments that can address your capsular contracture effectively without surgery. Of course surgical option is always used as a back up

breast revision surgery is the most difficult plastic surgery procedure performed. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Also, you have to make sure that your surgeon understands your breast augmentation goals.

I question whether it’s due to capsular contracture at all. Lowering an implant is not uncommon to have done. It should be successful.
