I’m 32 but my neck looks so old especially when I talk and flex my neck. I’ve had botox in it before but I don’t know whether they just didn’t inject enough or it’s ineffective? Do I need filler?
Answer: Platysmal Bands Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin in Winnetka and Chicago. This is a great question. Addressing the appearance of an aging neck involves understanding the underlying causes of the changes you're experiencing and considering a variety of treatment options. Since you've already tried Botox with varying results, it’s important to assess whether additional Botox treatments, fillers, or a combination of both might be more effective in achieving the results you desire. Botox can be effective for treating dynamic wrinkles in the neck by relaxing the platysma muscles, which are responsible for creating vertical bands and contributing to the appearance of an aging neck. If your previous Botox treatment didn’t yield the desired results, it could be due to several factors: an insufficient amount of Botox, incorrect injection sites, or an inadequate frequency of treatments. It’s possible that you didn’t receive enough Botox to fully address the issues, or the injections might not have targeted the right areas. If Botox is a viable option for you, consider a follow-up consultation to reassess your treatment plan. Increasing the amount of Botox or adjusting the injection technique could provide better results. Some individuals may need multiple sessions or a higher dosage to achieve optimal outcomes. Botox works best when combined with other treatments that address skin texture and volume loss, so it may be worthwhile to explore additional options alongside Botox. In addition to Botox, dermal fillers can be beneficial for addressing volume loss and improving skin appearance in the neck area. Fillers, such as hyaluronic acid-based products, can help restore lost volume and smooth out creases and wrinkles. They can also improve the overall contour of the neck. By adding volume to areas that have become hollow or saggy, fillers can help create a more youthful and even appearance. This approach can complement the effects of Botox by addressing both dynamic wrinkles and structural changes in the skin. A comprehensive treatment plan might include both Botox and fillers. Botox can relax the muscles that cause wrinkles, while fillers can address volume loss and enhance skin texture. Combining these treatments can provide a more balanced and effective approach to rejuvenating the neck area. I hope this helps and best of luck!
