I had my surgery a week and a half ago, and have plans with my friends this week. My nose looks the same as it did before the procedure, so I was thinking about covering it with tape to hide it for the night (tape was not advised by my doctor). My friends are excited to see my nose, and I don't want them to be disappointed since it doesn't look any different at the moment. If there are other suggestions to cover, those would be appreciated as well.

Gently removing crusts is ok. If they are attached to sutures it may hurt and one should avoid pulling on sutures. Keep your nose moist with nasal lubricants and saline sprays. See your surgeon if crusts are difficult to remove for nasal cleaning.
This is likely a combination of ongoing swelling and cartilage memory. Your nose may not end up perfectly straight, but hopefully it is an improvement from before surgery. And hopefully you breathe better.
