Once you use one type of lip fillers, is that the only type you can use?

you can use multiple types of fillers in the lips, avoid Radiesse and PLLA/Sculptra as well as Bellafill as these are permanent and can lead to lumps/bumps.  Best, Dr. Emer.

You can definitely use a different type of hyaluronic acid filler in the future. I would not recommend mixing fillers simultaneously. I prefer Juvederm for lip augmentation but Restylane and Belotero also work very nicely depending upon the goal of the treatment. Thank you for your question.  It is common use more than one type of filler in the lips either on separate occasions or within the same session.  The most important aspects of a great result is great assessment coupled with great technique and experience.  I would visit with a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist in your area to discuss you options with you. 

First off, Juvederm and Restalyne is the same product, Hyaluronic acid, just different manufacturers. So no problem there. Your next best option is fat transfer, as it lasts longer. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon, good luck.

Thankyou for your question. It is absolutely fine to use different tiles of filler in the lips. As long as the filler is designed for use in the lips. Sometimes this is even done purposely to create the desired look. It’s best to discuss with your injector so they can assess you and what look you wish to achieve.

Yes, you can use different lip fillers each time you get augmentation. It should not make a significant difference except for perhaps the length of time they stay inflated.

You can certainly use different fillers for your lips and can even use different ones together on the same day. I frequently use Restylane in the body of the  lip and use Silk for the fine lines on the same day. Before there was silk I might  used Belotero with restylane, still do at times. 

There is no reason you can't use a different filler for your lips if you were not satisfied with the first one.  All of the available fillers used on lips are made from hyaluronic acid; they differ mainly in the concentration and amount of something called cross-linkage.  Also each company has a proprietary way of creating them, even though the main ingredient is similar.That said, sometimes the result has more to do with the way it was injected than the actual filler material.  In general though, thinner fillers do better here. The main fillers used for the lips are Restylane, Juvederm Ultra, Belotero and Restylane Silk.  You do want to stay away from heavier fillers used for volumizing like Voluma or Restylane Lyft. In addition, this is not a good place to use Sculptra, Silicone, Radiesse or Bellafill. The latter are all long lasting or permanent fillers and are not recommended for the lips.There is no particular wait time.  If you want to adjust what you have you can add more with another filler, or try to remove some of the remaining filler with an injection called hyaluronidase which dissolves some of the filler.

The type of lip filler should be an HA, the brand is much less important. The results are lot less dependent on the brand of the filler than the skill of the physician. Achieving excellent results consistently with use of fillers is not an art (its subjective and may require no skill) it is a craft where the physician or the craftsman has spend hundreds of hours perfection their craft (objective and all who see it appreciate the esthetic enhancement).

There are many different lip fillers to choose from and you can always start with one type and add another or add volume with the same type of product.  It is an art and choosing the best filler is dependent on your facial structure and lip shape as well.  Best, Dr. Green
