I had a rhinoplasty two weeks ago. After 7 days post op, when i saw the nose for the first time, i noticed a dent on the right side near the tip of my nose. During this past 7 days the dent has become more visible. In addition, in the columella or septum (the area between the nostrils because of the stitches i have a small visible bump. Does this also go away on its own? THANK YOU! If not, when can i use fillers?
Answer: Give it more time Following rhinoplasty surgery, there can be contour irregularity and swelling that will evolve with time. In some cases the final result can take as much as a year to be realized. You should maintain good communication with your doctor and be patient. If the problem you are seeing is still evident at 6 months, then you might consider temporary filler to help out. Best Regards

Answer: Contour irregularities early after rhinoplasty. I see the indentation you're talking about. However it's very early in the postoperative period and contour irregularities are often due to swelling. You will need to remain patient.

Answer: Depending on your examination, microdroplet Silikon-1000 may be considered for the indentations on your nose after rhinoplasty. The lower third of the nose tends to hold onto swelling more than the bridge. If the indent on your right tip does not resolve, non-surgical rhinoplasty treatments may be considered. The earliest we have used fillers is one month postoperative. In our practice we may prefer using Silikon-1000, an off-label filler for permanent results.Hope this helps you.Dr Joseph

Answer: Nasal tip swelling gives the appearance of dents Thank you for your questions. You are very early in your healing period and I can see in the photos you sent that there is still significant swelling of the nasal tip and columella areas. As your tip swelling goes down the transition off the tip cartilages to the side of the nose should become more gentle and not appear so much as a dent. You are also noticing some swelling of the upper half of your columella above the incision line. This is also normal and will settle in the coming weeks to months. It takes time for the small lymphatic vessels to grow across the wound and re-establish normal drainage. Be patient and discuss both these concerns with your surgeon at your next follow-up review.
