2 months post op Rhinoplasty, I've gotten a bump on my nose bridge. Why have I gotten it and what I need to do? Thank you

Hello, and thank you for your question. At 2 months post-op, there is a large amount of swelling still present; this can create the appearance of asymmetry and irregularities. In general, 70% of the swelling subsides after 3-4 months, and it may take 18-24 months to see the final results of surgery. Swelling after surgery can be due to the following: Whether the procedure was a revisionWhether the procedure was open or closed Whether tip work was performed Thickness of the patients’ skin I would recommend following up with your surgeon, as he or she is familiar with the nature of your surgery and can advise you during the healing process. Thank you very much for enquire.It's too early to make value judgments 2 months after a rhinoplasty.Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity.In this regard, the nasal swelling Post-op It can last from two weeks to two months.To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Thank you for your question. Rhinoplasty commands a healing process up to 12 months. If your bump has been there since surgery, then perhaps it is concentrated swelling. If this bump is recent and from trauma, then you should contact your board certified facial plastic surgeon immediately. Sometimes as the swelling subsides, residual irregularities sometimes appear.  It could be swelling of the deeper soft tissue as well. Best to review with your doctor.

the post-operative course of a rhinoplasty may take up to 2 years. You may have developed some scar tissue or some additional bony growth. You need to be examined by a plastic surgeon and discuss the options that may be available for you.
