I was diagnosed in 2009 as having a hiatal hernia in the GE junction...does this prevent me from having CoolSculpting?
Answer: Hiatal Hernia + Coolsculpting As long as your diagnosis is correct and it's your GE junction, Coolsculpting is appropriate. It is an abdominal hernia that is a contraindication.Good luck!

Answer: Haital Hernia A hiatal hernia is an internal hernia around the opening in the diaphragm where the esophagus passes. This area is not affected by a cool sculpting treatment so you are a candidate as long as coolsculpting is appropriate for your body contouring issues Best wishes.

Answer: Coolsculpting and Hernias A preexisting abdominal wall hernia is a contraindication to Coolsculpting treatment in that area. However, a hiatal hernia does not preclude a candidate from treating the abdomen as this type of hernia is internal. Best of luck!

Answer: Hiatal hernia and coolsculpting? Coolsculpting selectively freezes fat cells to induce programmed cell death. It is FDA approved to treat the abdomen and flanks. A hiatal hernia will not be affected by coolsculpting. It is inside the body cavity and coolsculpting only treats the fat under the skin.

Answer: Clinical Considerations CoolSculpting is not recommended to treat on or around a hernia. A hernia occurs when part of an internal structure bulges through a weakened area of the body cavity. Hernias are caused by a combination of structural weakness (both hereditary or secondary) and increased pressure (such as heavy lifting, straining, etc.) A hiatal hernia occurs when part of the of the stomach bulges into the chest cavity through the hiatus, also known as the diaphragm opening. Treatment may cause increased pressure in the abdomen area, causing new hernia formation or exacerbate pre-existing hernia, which may require surgical repair. Therefore, CoolSculpting is not recommended.
