Coolsculpting Procedure...at what temperature does this machine start killing the fat cells?

The CoolSculpting procedure works by cooling the fat cells, which cause a portion of the fat cells in the treated area to die off.  The temperature approaches the freezing point of water but stays somewhat above that temperature so that the skin is not damaged by frost bite if the procedure is done correctly.  The procedure time is one hour to the treated area except for the outer thighs, where the treatment time is two hours on each side.  It is possible to have the love handles and front of the abdomen treated at the same appointment, but with one machine, this would take three hours.  If your treating doctor had two machines, it would decrease the total procedure time to two hours since you could have both flanks treated at the same time and then have the abdomen treated.

The actual temperature that the machine uses to eliminate fat cells is proprietary. The company support staff do not even know the actual temperature. It is only known that it is well below zero. The fat is not held in the machine, but the machine breaks down the fat cells and it passes through your body as waste. It will not cause frost bite if it is longer, but there is no documented benefit of keeping the machine working for more than hour for a suction applicator or 2 hours for the coolsmooth applicator. Multiple areas can be treated simultaneously if an office has multiple machines. There is no document benefit other than reduced time for treating with multiple machines.
