Is weight loss the cause of my smile lines and tired looking skin? (Photo)

Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

A combination approach would give the most improvement. Deep wrinkles and smile lines can be improved with a combination of Botox and/or fillers for the lines themselves and to build anatomical support with Sculptra for collagen building. Ultherapy is a great skin tightening device, but works best in combination with other treatments like J Plasma, RF treatments, lasers, microneedling/PRP, salt facials, Cosmelan for skin tightening and improve skin tone. Hi @Danny99! This is an excellent question. Weight loss can contribute to the skin loosening. Dermal fillers are great for rejuvenating the skin, restoring volume, and adding structure to the face. If your smile lines bother you, you can get a hyaluronic acid dermal filler into the nasolabial fold and piriform fossa. Best of luck to you!

Hello ! When fat is lost, so is collagen, the scaffolding within skin that keeps it firm and plump.

You could benefit from fillers, semi permanent fillers like Renuva or fat transfer.

There are many tools available from Botox, fillers, Morpheus8 treatments as well as maintenance treatments such as Hydrafacial. First of all, congratulations on your weight loss and getting healthy. Second, when you are overweight, you not only have extra fat underneath your skin, but extra collagen as well. When you lose significant fat, you also lose collagen, leading to skin sag. The best bet is to get an in person consult and exam to decide on the best treatment. A combination of Morpheus8/fillers/botox would probably work well.

I do not think these will go away with weight gain. I would consider an in person evaluation to see if you are a good candidate for something like botox depending on how these lines change with facial movement.

Congratulations on your weight loss journey! Losing 80 pounds can also mean losing some of the facial volume that you once had, making it easier to see wrinkles or signs of aging. The best way to restore some of this volume would be to seek injectable treatments such as Botox and filler. Gaining weight is not a guaranteed way to restore some of this volume.
