Hi! My facial skin was very good at age 26 I was overweight at that time but I looked very youthful. I kept my youthful look from early 20s, but for some reason after I lost 80 pounds and about a couple of months after I turned 27 I noticed I look more tired and I have smile lines that won't go away. Is weight loss the cause of my smile lines and tired looking? Or is this genetic? If I gain some more weight will these lines go away? I don't smoke and I am 2 years sober from alcohol. Thank you:)
Answer: These can be treated by doing Morpheus8 to help minimize appearance of deep lines Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Healhy skin Congratulations on a healthy lifestyle! It is not recommended for you to gain weight to address your skin concerns. There are many tools available from Botox, fillers, Morpheus8 treatments as well as maintenance treatments such as Hydrafacial. We always recommend using medical grade skin care products like Transform MD and wearing sunscreen every day.

Answer: Losing weight and smile lines First of all, congratulations on your weight loss and getting healthy. Second, when you are overweight, you not only have extra fat underneath your skin, but extra collagen as well. When you lose significant fat, you also lose collagen, leading to skin sag. The best bet is to get an in person consult and exam to decide on the best treatment. A combination of Morpheus8/fillers/botox would probably work well.

Answer: Improving Deep Wrinkles -- Botox/Xeomin/Dysport/Jeuveau, fillers, fat, RF treatments, Ultherapy, Renuvion, lasers, Sculptra A combination approach would give the most improvement. Deep wrinkles and smile lines can be improved with a combination of Botox and/or fillers for the lines themselves and to build anatomical support with Sculptra for collagen building. Ultherapy is a great skin tightening device, but works best in combination with other treatments like J Plasma, RF treatments, lasers, microneedling/PRP, salt facials, Cosmelan for skin tightening and improve skin tone. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Dermal filler Hi @Danny99! This is an excellent question. Weight loss can contribute to the skin loosening. Dermal fillers are great for rejuvenating the skin, restoring volume, and adding structure to the face. If your smile lines bother you, you can get a hyaluronic acid dermal filler into the nasolabial fold and piriform fossa. Best of luck to you!
