Thank you for your question: Is it possible to get a Thigh Lift without forming a keloid scar? The key to all plastic surgery is to minimize tension on the scars. When I perform thigh lifts, I perform thigh liposuction, perform wide-undermining, and close the wound with six layers of sutures. I also have the patients wear garments 6 to 8 weeks after the surgery. All these maneuvers help to minimize tension. I used glue for approximately 15 years and found no significant benefit. In my 22 years of practice, I have only had two patients develop keloids. One patient had keloids before surgery, so it was inevitable that she would develop keloids. Based on your genetic history, I highly doubt you would form keloids. You need to ask yourself whether it’s worth getting rid of the excess skin and having the possibility of developing keloids. Only you can answer the question. If you are afraid of developing keloids, don’t undergo thigh reduction. If you want to get rid of the excess skin of your inner thighs and are not as concerned about developing keloids, then experience the thigh lift. In my opinion, I do not believe using glue will significantly reduce your chances of developing keloids. Also, the tension in the thigh cannot be diminished entirely just by using glue. Surgeons must use sutures to close the thigh lift and not wholly rely on the bond. I hope this helps answer your question. Thank you for a great question. I specialize in thigh lifts.
