Why do I weigh more after 360 liposuction with fat transfer?
Answer: Can someone let me know why I weigh more after liposuction/BBL? Is that normal? Hello and Great Question. I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure. My name is Dr. Matthew J. Nykiel. I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon, and a Butt Augmentation Specialist. Swelling and a weight gain a few days after lipo/Brazilian buttlift can be anticipated. As you diurese over the next several days, your weight will reduce accordingly. I hope that helps! Answer: Swelling Dear shellylopez,I understand your concern and your weight gain is probably caused by swelling. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Can someone let me know why I weigh more after liposuction/BBL? Is that normal? After Liposuction alone and a BBL (includes liposuction + a fat transfer), the patient actually experiences increased swelling up to 14 days after surgery. This swelling is due to water retention. From 2 weeks after surgery to ~6-8 weeks, your swelling will slowly go down. It is not uncommon to gain 10-15lbs of water weight after surgery. The swelling varies depending on lifestyle (i.e. salt intake, alcohol consumption, physical activity, etc). This is also why the compression garment feels so tight for patients.

Answer: Weight gain after liposuction with fat transfer The weight gain is from swelling. The weight gain is from swelling. That and the fact that while fat was removed it was also re-inject it into your body. Even in the most aggressive liposuction cases, say when we remove 5 L of that the expected long-term weight loss is still only 10 pounds. Most patients should expect to lose only a couple of pounds which is something we see as a daily fluctuations regardless. Patients often develop swelling of the whole body called third spacing after surgery. Some of this can take weeks to months to go down. Best,Mats Hagstrom,MD
