It is normal to feel lumps after liposuction for at least 6 months. "Injured" fat tissue has a tendency to heal with lumps and it takes several months for most of them to soften and disappear. However, in same patients these irregularities may stay for longer and may need surgical revisions (very thin patients, smoking, excessive drinking). Manual massage and ultrasound assisted massage early after surgery and for several months after surgery may improve this condition. In most resilient cases surgical revision which includes braking the lumps with liposuction cannula, without actual liposuction, in same cases fat grafting, is an option. Good luck.
Dear Lubbie7290,I would have to examine you but it appears that this is a contour irregularity after liposuction. This happens often when areas the undergo liposuction are not feathered appropriately. The good news is that it can be fixed and I have done so with good results before. The revision can often be done under local as well. While there is always a chance for contour irregularities with liposuction, someone who takes their time and uses the appropriate sized cannulas should give you a superb result.I have all my patients wear compression garments and I use multiple sized cannulas to feather out the result.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hi Lubbie7290,Thank you for your questions and pictures. I recommend scheduling a followup appointment with your surgeon to discuss your concerns. This is common after surgery and can be fixed easily.Best of luck!
Thank you for your question. I’m sorry that your are having concerns and discomfort. First, an in person examination is really needed to definitively know what is going on. However, based on your pictures and description, you lipo site lumps could be from a number of things. One could be uneven liposuction to those areas. This can sometimes be challenging to fix after the fact but can me made better with a revision surgery. Second, it could be even Liposuction with abnormal scarring. After these cases, it is important to have the appropriate post operative therapy such as lymphatic drainage/massage to ensure and even result and prevent scarring. At five months, it is a little late to have this treatment but you could consult with a trained therapist and see if they think there may be some improvement. Lastly, the firm areas in the buttocks are likely areas of dat necrosis or oil cysts. This is caused by areas of large fat injection that do not have enough surrounding healthy tissue to supply the graft so the fat dies, breaks down and forms a collection of oil. This can improve over time. Areas of fat necrosis can be improved with revisional surgery. I hope this helps.

Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. I suggest my patients to try lymphatic massages, at least for 10 days and to use a full body compression garment, 24/7 for the first 3 months, and after that, for 12 hours a day for 3 more months, to get the best results. It ...
