Answer: I am 6 weeks post op BBL, is it still too early to determine the final shape of my butt? (photos) For most of my patients, I tell them that at 6 weeks there is still a great deal of swelling in the abdomen, sides, and back (or wherever the liposuction was performed); and they will only look better in 6 months. About 50% of the fat that is transferred lives and becomes a part of you. This will hold stable as long as there is no weight fluctuation.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: TOO SOON TO ASSESS FINAL BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT RESULTS. Hello Danielle_h97, I appreciate your questions! Six weeks is too short of a time to evaluate your Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) final outcome. Maximum results will take up to 6 months to show.Your body may look swollen for months, but after 6 months you might appreciate your new and amazingly contoured figure. I typically recommend my patients wearing specialized compression garments for approximately 6 months and getting a minimum of ten lymphatic drainage massage sessions in order to eliminate excess lymph fluid, completely alleviate the swelling and discomfort, and also prevent complications such as seromas (fluid collection) and contour irregularities (indentations, and/or fibrosis). Based on my experience, after performing BBL surgery you must avoid sitting or sleeping on your back for at least 8 weeks or else the desired outcome will be negatively affected. Putting pressure on your bottom by sitting down or laying on it during the recovery period can stiffen, deform and even cause the transplanted fat cells to reabsorb. I would recommend you waiting at least 8 weeks for the swelling to recede and evaluate the results. If you are still dissatisfied with the outcome, consult with your aesthetic plastic surgeon about your concerns and improvements’ options. Best regards! Dr. De La Cruz.

You are still early on the healing process, it can take up to 6 months to see your final results, so please be patient. At the stage you are in, swelling is very normal. Answer: Post BBL Hi, Thank you for your question. Six weeks is stil very early to determine the final outcome. Six months is a better mark since swelling will have gone down at that point but not completely. Best of luck!
