Splint removed after rhinoplasty today - I know it's early (9 days) but It is so uneven.

Question

I know it's early in the process , but my splint was taken off today and I think my nose is way too lopsided. Is it normal ? Will it even out ? I found the whole experience rougher than I expected so the idea of revision surgery it's awful for me. The left (?) side is so clearly ( to me ) wider and fuller than the other side . I hear others say they are so happy when they first see their new nose but I felt really anxious that I have made a huge mistake

Yes- at only a few days out from surgery it is early- I would consult with your surgeon regarding techniques to help with the swelling.. elevating the head of the bed often will help

Thank you for your question! It is rather difficult to fully evaluate your situation without an in-person exam. However, as you already know, you're likely to have some post-op swelling at 9 days following surgery. This would explain why your nose appears uneven. It may take 6 to 9 months for swelling to resolve completely. Then you will be able to observe your final results. If you don't observe gradual improvement over the next few months, however, make sure to alert your plastic surgeon. 
An in-person exam with a board certified plastic surgeon is always the best way to fully assess your needs and address your concerns. Best of luck!

You are correct, it is way too early to see the results. You are very very swollen. Take a deep breath, relax, and give it some time to heal..

Hello, thank you for your question and for providing the photographs. As you are already aware, 9 days post surgery is far too early to make any judgements on the shape of the nose. The swelling and healing takes a while, and it can be 6 months or even longer for the final shape of the nose to become apparent. The anxiety you feel is not uncommon, but you should relax and let the healing take place.Best of luck.
