Can I get a nose job if I have herpes zoster ophthalmicus?

Question

I no longer have the virus as of November 2016 and I was told that I no longer have to take medication as of Feb 2017. I wanted to know if it would be okay to have a nose job, brow lift, and lip fillers. Would a plastic surgeon be able to tell me if I could go ahead with the surgeries or should I consult a cornea specialist first?

It is always best to have a consultation with your ophthalmologist and your rhinoplasty surgeon to formulate a treatment plan according to your issues. It also might be a good idea to get on prophylactic antivirals such as Valtrex ahead of time. The lip fillers can be performed in the office setting, while the nose job and brow lift performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Medically speaking the zoster infection at this poain't would not preclude surgery. However, you likely need to be placed on herpes prophylactic medication before and during recovery.

I do not know what your risk for recurrence of the virus would be with the procedures that you have listed. Since you just fully recovered, I would wait at least a few months. I would put you on an anti-viral medication prior to, and after any surgery.
