I'm insecure about my chin when I smile and am wondering what procedure I should do. Chin augmentation?
Answer: Prominent chin and soft tissue In your profile photo I can see that your chin is prominent and short in the vertical dimension. A chin implant is not indicated for your type of chin. I think that you get improvement with a lengthening genioplasty and reduction of your chin soft tissue pad. These surgeries are more difficult and you should find a surgeon who specializes in this type of work. I would also recommend either chin liposuction or a platysmaplasty.

Answer: Recommended chin procedures Dear dear Arey, Thank you for your picture. Looking at your facial profile, and you have a very strong chin button, but it appears that your lower jaw is recessed. Placing a chin implant for augmentation will only make this more pronounced . You will have more of a concave profile, where your nose and chin stick out your upper lips. It may be your best interest to evaluate whether you have an upper and a lower jaw deficiency, THAT REQUIRE JAW SURGERY. If you do not entertain those procedures, then I believe a balancing rhinoplasty with a slight setback to your chin with a sliding genioplasty may be your best options. Seek the support certified facial Plastic Surgeon and/or plastic surgeons for the best in-person recommendations. Best wishes! Earl Stephenson, Jr, MD, DDS, MBA ESJ Aesthetics #TruthAndTransformation

Answer: Chin shape when smiling Thank you for your question. The movement of the chin when smiling can produce the impression that the chin point goes up, down, or flattens. In your situation, the chin point appears to come down a little bit, breaking the contour continuity with the rest of the jawline. The best treatment for situations like this is to use botulinum toxin to decrease the activity in the chin muscles when smiling. This tends to maintain even contours between the jawline and the chin, as the chin retains its resting position when you smile.

Answer: Options Thank you for the photo. I like the projection of your chin, and I would be hesitant to do an augmentation here as it will project even more. From only the side photo it's hard to say exactly what the concern is. If you don't like how the chin "shrivels up" or gets hard during facial expressions, a little botox to the muscle there can soften this look.

Answer: Rhinoplasty, lipo of neck or lift Your photograph is somewhat limited. You benefit more from a rhinoplasty and liposuction of the neck or lift rather than just a chin implant. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
